Museum Patrol
By Kleinheider Posted on February 25, 2009 at 5:08 pmCate Hamilton, Executive Director of the Gov. Frank Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, talks shop with the Posterity Project:
I, like Tony Randall, love museums. Not the dark, dank repositories of old or the brightly lit but do not touch museums I remember as a child. I love interactive museums with programming for children and adults, special lecturers and exhibits, and special events that attract a diverse audience.
With 28 years of experience primarily in nonprofit organizations with a short stint in state government, I have lived and traveled across the State of Tennessee. I have a deep appreciation for our small towns, large cities, and all the crossroads in between. I grew up in Bumpus Mills (now go find that on a state map) with parents who loved history and music and community.
I now have the pleasure and privilege of working with the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, a state-owned historic site, located in the former Hotel Halbrook in historic downtown Dickson. With our grand opening just a few short months away (June 2nd), we will open our doors, unveil our exhibits, and welcome local and regional residents and visitors in a beautifully renovated facility.
