Playing Kick The Can — With Matches And Gasoline

Posted on February 24, 2009 at 7:15 am

Democratic insiders blame blogs for the controversy over TNDP Treasurer Bill Freeman’s past donations to the TNDP:

Blogs are fueling the controversy and making matters much worse for Freeman. Actually, you could say blogs and their commenters have created Freeman’s troubles. “In a normal world without the Internet, I wouldn’t know any of this was even happening,” one insider says. “There might have been some muttering or something. But damn, now I’m getting emails from somebody in Knoxville who’s gotten an email from somebody in Memphis who’s been reading it on the Scene’s website, and all of a sudden there’s all this trash out there. There’s just reams of. I don’t think Freeman or Forrester ever expected that this would blow up.”

ACK: This brings up a good point. For those of us who are having a hard time keeping up with the traffic, any chance you might show us a mash-up of selected posts out there. At last count, I saw Coma, Vib, Views, SoBe, and others. Trying to keep up but it’s tough.

Yeah, what are the good ole boys and the new wannabes going to do now that people know their insider games? I know: pass legislation to outlaw political blogs so that the print newspapers can recover and the Editors and Publishers can regain political power. And while they’re working on that legislation they can also pass legislation to require folks to push toothpaste back into the tube.

you could say blogs and their commenters have created Freeman’s troubles.

You could also say that the TNDP is allergic to accountability and the sunshine on their promiscuous insider gamesmanship.

“I don’t think Freeman or Forrester ever expected that this would blow up.”

Of course not. Why would they? They expected to be able to run things with impunity.

“She Who Shall Not Be Named” (Can we call you SWSNBN for short?) hits on a real problem here. Those of us that have stayed on Chipper have been subjected to daily attacks by the Chipinista. They claim they’ll track down our IP’s and “get us.” They’re going to root us out. They’ve even thrown out some bizarre charge that Harrison is blogging “on the taxpayer’s dime.”

Chipper has been stung by the criticism. His chairmanship is endangered. I think he will do anything. Don’t be surprised if he tries to bring in lawyers or tries to have a Democrat legislator pass some anti-blogger bill.

It wouldn’t be the first time that left-wing politicians have gone after the press.
