Odom Coup Trial Balloon

Some rural old school Democrats may be looking to set thing back like they were before:

Several members of the House Democratic Caucus have told NashvillePost.com that they are not content with their caucus leader, State Rep. Gary Odom of Nashville – so much so that discussion of a leadership coup is in the works.

The members, who spoke only on background, stated that if there is a move to unseat Odom, it would depend on Democratic State Representatives John Litz of Morristown, Craig Fitzhugh of Ripley and Charlie Curtiss of Sparta. If those three decide collectively to mount a challenge, a leadership battle would be on.

    Buyers’ remorse. What a surprise. Sounds like people have decided Jerry Odom is a dickface. There goes his goobernatorial bid. No worries, though: He and Chip can go form a salon while their buddy Bill Freeman quietly feathers the nests of Republicans.

    Is anybody now about as ready for Bredesen to get the hell out of Dodge as bad as we were for Bush to leave?

    Bredesen has sat on his hands and not done a damn thing for the Democratic Party for six years. Now he wants to decide who the Caucus leader is, who the state party chair is, and he’s acting like he’s going to turn down economic recovery funds from Washington…?

    I’m actually pining for the days when the only thing he did wrong was throw people off of TennCare.

    Seriously, Phil. Just shut the f**k up and ride off into the sunset gracefully. Democrats do NOT need your help, thank you very much.

    Proposal–let’s just put all of the leading state Democrats into a WWE-style Battle Royale. Last one remaining in the ring gets to run the party. The use of metal chairs and baseball bats will be permitted to weed out the weak.

    So Odom rips Naifeh all over the press. He then installs his Republican campaign treasurer as treasurer of the Tennessee Democrat Party and starts a firestorm that will probably burn down the House of Chipper . . .

    Now’s there’s a move to oust Odom. Doesn’t sound unconnected to me.
