Kent Williams Will Be A Republican In His Heart…

Posted on February 8, 2009 at 1:25 am

…no matter what Robin Smith decides Monday:

Williams has said he would still consider himself a Republican no matter what the party executives do. He said he would not join the Democrats but would serve as an independent if he was ousted from the GOP.

Williams hopes he will be able to stay a Republican.

“I think most of the Republicans in the House want me to stay, it is just a handful that want me out,” Williams said. “I think the party is reluctant to take the action and lose their majority in the House, but I think Robin Smith has been pushing it.

“It is a shame one person has so much power in the party. It is like a dictatorship,” Williams said.

One would have to first wonder “does he have a heart?”

Williams knew all along the TRP bylaws clearly state what happens to a legislator who does not vote for the House or Senate GOP CAUCUS NOMINEE! This is not a dictatorship and Chairman Smith is not a Dictator. She is a woman of her word, unlike Williams. The TRP and Chairman Smith mean what they say and say what they mean. The TRUTH is if you don’t vote for the Caucus nominee for Leadership then you don’t get to run as a Republican. Plain & simple.

Williams whine that he voted for a Republican doesn’t cut it.

After tomorrow, he will be in the rear view mirror.
Mumpower & Company will get down to the business at hand dealing with the state’s budget and Williams will be a man without a country.

Are you kidding? Smith LOVES her dictatorship. It’s plain in the media. I haven’t heard anyone whining except those Mumpower Co. guys since they lost the first election 4 years ago here in Carter County. After Mumpower lied to him (yes, there were others not keeping their words, also), Speaker Williams realized that they needed to put plan #2 into action, I believe. They must have had a plan in case Mumpower proved (as they thought he would) he couldn’t be trusted. The only way for East TN, and the state as a whole, to move away from these thugs’ childish and manipulative ways was to beat them at their own game, and Williams did. It was absolutely vital to the progress of our state and to our county, since we had been promised (threatened)that we’d pay the Piper for reelecting him. The Party even made up their rules as they went along in their game of politics so that they could look like they were just “following the rules” when they went out to work against Speaker Williams in our county. Well, that don’t fly with most of us. I’m glad Speaker Williams did whatever he had to in order to keep that bunch of punks out of the Speaker’s chair. Time will prove Williams to be a good Speaker.

I love these people that posts what they think is going to happen in Carter County in 2010. I for one believe the people that posts from Carter County are the ones that know what is going on. According to a poll in the Johnson City Press, Kent Williams has an 81% approval rating. The local paper for Carter County is the Elizabethton Star and there is no doubt the majority of the stories, editorials & letters in that paper are pro Kent Williams. Right now it looks as though he could run in any party and win, write in or push a button. Unfortunately, Robin Smith would throw him out if he won by 81%. I hope she, Brian Kelsey, Stacey Campfield, Jason Mumpower or Ron Ramsey doesn’t plan to go to Carter County any time soon. Me thinks they wouldn’t be welcome.

Kelsey was in Carter County during last election. He actually even attended the annual GOP Pig Roast with his They both were running around the picnic talking about Williams and so many people were fuming that he had the nerve to butt into our business and say things that proved he didn’t know what he was talking about. Mumpower and Ramsey were working with certain people from the Republican Party behind the scenes to help defeat Williams. Certain staff and leadership of the state Rep. Party were also a part of the effort to defeat him here. It obviously didn’t work and won’t next time. We don’t forget things like this.

Sorry, I meant to say, “He actually even attended the annual GOP Pig Roast with his lawyer friend and Williams’ opponent, Jerome Cochran”.

Williams is not a Republican and should not be allowed to stay in the party. Who cares what happens in Carter County next election. The Republican’s will do whatever they can to defeat him and if Carter County decides to re-elect him it’s their problem. I would rather have Nafieh back in charge (he’s probably running the show anyway) than have Williams in the Republican Party.
