    Black? Always bet on black?

Did you expect everyone to miss the obvious racist intent in the title of this post?

What is this, like “always bet on an African-American”? Some kind of a snide allusion to race based preferences?

Racist. Racism simply staggers the imagination.

Black men are now in charge of both parties. This is just gonna kill the racists. They’ve got nowhere to run. lol.

Well, I wouldn’t have used that headline. No way.

    ACK,

This title is OUTRAGEOUS…not because its racist, that is for the LIEberal MSM to decide, but because it insinuates that race was a factor in the choice for Steele as RNC Chairman.

Now, Barack Obama was a beneficiary of affirmative-action, we all know that, and if it weren’t for the fact that he is half-black (NOT FULL BLACK) he’d certainly have never gotten the adoration of the liberal media.

But Michael Steele got where he is because of his qualifications. And if he’d have lost, it would’ve been on his qualifications, not because the party would rather have a segregationist at its head, than a colo…I mean, African-American fellow.

If Steele had lost, the libs would be saying the RNC was racist for voting against him. Because he won, the libs are screaming “racism!” again, asserting his victory is some weird race-based ploy to put a black face on a white party.

Liberals will cry “racism!” for any reason. In Tennessee, liberals blame racism for Nathan Vaughn losing his state House seat, but have no explanation for why Vaughn won that seat three times, in a 97% white and heavily Republican district - did those voters all move out and a bunch of racists move in?

Libs in TN also scream “racism!” is why Dems lost House and Senate races all over the state, blaming racist anti-Obama voters for voting against Dems down the ballot.

Problem with that analysis: It asserts that racist Democrats cast racist votes against WHITE Democrats.

So, libs, if RNC members voting FOR a black candidate (Steele) was racist, and if voting AGAINST a black candidate for other offices is racist, then were RNC members racist to vote against Blackwell, or racist to vote for him?

Just want to throw out an “atta boy” to Sean who is astute enough to see the subtle but important distinction that blackness plays in the respective parties.

Great choice!!! I wish him success, in his challange of educating the mass of “uninformed, but voting” citizens of this great Country.

This just feels like pandering to me. I’m not saying Steele isn’t qualified. But let’s be honest, McCain picked Palin as a pander to women. I still voted for him, but the move smelled bad to me. I’m not saying anything against Steele or Palin, for that matter. If you get a shot, you take it. But you can’t convince me that some RNC members didn’t vote for Steele just to try to show Americans that the party isn’t racist.

Sean, that is without a doubt the most convoluted nonsense I have ever read.

    TennDemocrat,

I’m glad I could leave a memorable impression on you. Cherish it.

It’s a savvy pick. I wanted them to pick Dawson so they would continue to be marginalized as the social conservative party of the South (minus Florida, North Carolina and Virginia) and part of the West. But the RNC realizes they need to change their image. Picking a political leader from a Blue state should help that.

It won’t. They’ll still pick the biggest nut in 2012. Maybe Palin.

Probably true. She’s still damaged goods outside the wingnut base.

Sean, forgive me but none of that seems like anything you would say.

Forget all this bullshit about race. Read Steele’s position on the 2nd amendment. He thinks its for duck hunters etc. The guy is one step above Mel Martinez but not by much. He will lead the weak minded to head for the soft center and drop those pesky things like personal responsibility, late term abortion, gun ownership and advocate things like social safety nets for all, housing for the economically challanged and amnesty for the poor of the world.

In case no one remembers (it was a pretty forgettable movie) in Passenger 57, a suspense movie about a terrorism expert and tough guy who happened to be on a plane that got hijacked, the title character (played by Wesley Snipes) said, whenever he beat up or killed one of the bad guys: “Remember, always bet on Black!”. This isn’t the first time the phrase has been used, and it won’t (probably) be the last.

You mean to say ACK bases a lot of his titles on obscure pop culture references? Huh, I’ve never noticed that.

  23. Jim writes

Calm down. The headline “Always Bet On Black” is borrowed from the movie Passenger 57. Wesley Snipes plays John Cutter, an aviation security expert facing hijackers on his flight. The exchange that contains the phrase:
John Cutter: Charlie, ever played roulette?
    Charles Rane: On occasion.
John Cutter: Well, let me give you a word of advice. Always bet on black!

    Picking Steele is a gimmick.

    Just like Palin was.

It’s a desperate choice for a desperate party.

Before McCain picked Palin, one old dittohead, GOPer told me he thought McCain should pick Condi Rice, like all you have to do is pick a black or woman to get those votes.

    Geez, Republicans are so dumb!
