Is Rep. Susan Lynn In The Hospital?

Posted on January 28, 2009 at 11:16 am

Rep. Brian Kelsey says she is:

“This is a complaint about sexual harassment and about lying to cover it up. Clearly this committee came in here with the idea that they are going to cover up this whole issue and not even investigate this. It’s really absurd.” …

“I don’t know where this committee is going right now, but if they came in here not ready to investigate it then that’s the wrong attitude to have when you’ve got serious allegations of sexual harassment and of lying about it to the public.” …

“I came here ready to have a hearing. We’ve got several members who were witnesses to this. To deny them the opportunity to comment on this is a travesty. The reason Representative Lynn is not here is that she had major feelings of stress this morning and she is in the hospital and unable to make it here. This is a serious charge. This is not a joking matter.”

So Rep. Brian Kelsey’s dredging this matter up put Rep. Lynn in the hospital? Wow, what an ass. Maybe he should’ve let her handle this matter on her own terms.

    Sean -

That’s just in poor taste. I thought you were above such immaturity.

Sean does have a point. If Susan Lynn wanted a complaint filed, she would have filed one two years ago.

Kelsey is using the situation to grandstand. All in the game, I suppose. But still distasteful.

    Matthew,

Do you offer arguments or just take personal potshots at people?

I merely attempt to ensure debate is respectable at the very least, which is something I wish my colleagues on the left - be they anonymous or otherwise - would observe, as well.

    Matthew,

I wish Rep. Kelsey would “respect” Rep. Lynn’s decision to mediate this matter behind closed doors, rather than drag her through an ethics committee investigation.

I agree with Sean - Clearly, Rep. Lynn did not want this ever to be publicized, so if the poor woman really is in the hospital, Kelsey might want to quit dragging her name into the media spotlight for his own political purposes.

Matthew, shouldn’t you be in class or something?

It looks like that rather than staging a quality, mature comeback from losing the speakership, the House Republicans are intent on committing political suicide.

    Nice.

I bet the Democrats are loving this.

And it’s a case study why certain Republicans in the House should never be anywhere near a leadership position.

What does Matthew’s age have to do with anything. The blogosphere is a meritocracy, his opinion has no more or less weight if he was 22 or 55.

    “What a melodrama.”

Blogs always seem to go from being a fairly thoughtful discussion to a table of freshmen in a high school cafeteria.
