Rep. McCormick To The New Speaker: “You Are A Disgrace To The State”

Posted on January 13, 2009 at 9:19 pm

From Andy Sher:

Speaker Williams said he heard expletives being used by fellow Republicans. He said he still considers himself a Republican and emphasized that he would be fair to Republicans and Democrats. He predicted that history will show that this will be a “great thing” for the state.

When state Rep. Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga, approached the new Speaker, Rep. Williams warned him that if he used “the f-word,” he would be thrown out.

Rep. McCormick responded by telling the new Speaker that he is a “disgrace to the state. You are a disgrace to the state.”

Rep. McCormick denied using foul language to the Speaker Williams earlier.

Williams can’t be trusted. He lied to his own caucus members. He was deceitful in so many ways, now he is threatening members. Williams is a disgrace to all Tennesseans–Democrats and Republicans and independents.

State troopers escorting Williams out of the building? Boos? Hissing? Foul language? Is this high school or the TN General Assembly? I was sitting in the gallery today in the House Chambers, and I was utterly shocked by this behavior. Politics are dirty. It’s not the first time, nor will it be the last that some shady activities and deals have been made. Though I am not pleased with today’s outcome (I was/am a big fan of Naifeh), I am more disgusted by some of these outbursts, especially those issued by Rep. McCormick. Children Children Children…. Grow up.

McCormick should be slapped and put in a corner until he grows up. Maybe he B HO and the Rep can have a crybaby circle. As an aside, Jason should have spent less time with the comics and more time with “The Prince”- my money says Jason just read the Cliff notes and figured that it would all work out for the best.

I was in the chamber two years ago when Kurita, despite having told her party member she was going to vote for Wilder just before entering the chamber doors, voted for Ramsey. She was not meet with yells of traitor or cursed… she did not have to listen to boos from the audience or her senate colleague. She did not have to have a state trooper escort due to the level of tension the outburst and accusations had caused… Does this mean democrats have more class? Does this mean democrats are more mature? Or does this mean the Republicans in the house chamber today acted like a six year old who had just been told by their mother they could not have their way?

The hilarious thing is just what the last guy said. When Kurita made her vote, Democrats in the Senate chamber didn’t turn in to a hockey game fan section…the same cant be said for the Repubs today.

Aw come on! Odom approached Kent the man boy and persuaded him to stick it to the Republicans. Only a slime ball like Naifeh would sink to that kind of debauchery.
You have to hand it to Jimbo, he is smarter than the average pimp.

    Foul language being used?

Must be the evangelical wing of the party.

Some of these comments amaze me. The problem with Williams has nothing to do with political parties. The problem is that the man has no character. He signed a sworn oath to do one thing and his lust for power led him to do something else. He has shamed Carter Co., Tennessee. He is a dishonorable man who can not be trusted to keep his word who is now running the Tennessee House of Representatives. He will go down in history as the Judas of Tennessee politics.
