Odom Makes Motion For Recess, Mumpower Loses Procedural Vote

The gavel has come down. The oaths of office for new members have been sworn but now a thirty-minute recess has been called for shortly before the vote for state House speaker was to take place. Rep. Mumpower has voiced objection and has asked for the motion to recess be tabled.

Mumpower loses the vote 49-50 on the tabling motion. Republican freshman Rep. Terri Lynn Weaver was the line crossing Republican.

The House is in recess until 1:00pm when the vote for Speaker will commence.

UPDATE: Word is that the new member Weaver was confused and thought she was voting against the recess.
