Rep. Blackburn’s Home Listed As Foreclosure

Posted on January 9, 2009 at 7:34 am

Mindy Tate reports:

A foreclosure notice published Thursday on 7th District Congressman Marsha Blackburn’s Murray Lane home in Brentwood was the result of her bank’s failure to make automatic payments to Countrywide Home Loans, according to her staff.

The legal notice, titled “Substitute Trustee’s Sale,” said the Blackburns’ home would be sold on the steps of the Williamson County Judicial Building on Jan. 29, although her office said the entire issue is a paperwork error by the bank.

Blackburn’s spokesperson Claude Chafin late Thursday afternoon provided a letter from GreenBank’s Chief Information Officer Bill Adams which said, “It has come to my attention that several electronic payments authorized by (Chuck Blackburn) were not processed by Green Bank as requested, though sufficient funds were in the bank to cover those payments.

Is this one of those cases like with the McCain’s where they just “forgot” to pay their taxes because they have so many homes?

I understand the interest in taking a shot at Blackburn, but this can really happen to ordinary people. As it happens, I have a close friend in Tennessee that this happened to last year. She was not living in the house. The money for the payment was actually taken out of her bank account every month, but the payment was not sent to the mortgage company. The money sat in an escrow account. She never received notices saying that payments had been missed, and she knew nothing of it until a neighbor called her to say that the sheriff had nailed a notice on the front door.

It was a nightmare for her to get it fixed. Her experience has caused me to make sure to check statements on anything I send an automatic payment for.

I am not buying this and can’t wait for her to run for Gov.

I want to see her in some debates, without her staff speaking for her.

You can move in with me, Marsha. But you’ll be in Lincoln’s district.

She had a mortgage with Countrywide? Was her ‘loan’ a congressional special? Their CEO was allegedly giving congressional members & senators premium mortgage deals.
Recall, too they went down in the sub-prime disaster for dealing in too much bad paper & were bought out by Bank of America.

Does marcia have some ’splainin to do.
