Trooper Reassigned After Seeking Elected Office

Posted on January 7, 2009 at 1:05 pm

From the Columbia Daily Herald:

After 18 years as a trooper assigned to Maury County, Sweeney has been reassigned by his superiors to Marshall County because of his decision to seek an elected position. He appears to be the first trooper in the state to be transferred under an “unwritten policy” of the THP barring employees from campaigning in the counties to which they are assigned.

This is stupid. Perhaps unwritten laws should be written? If you cannot run for office in the locality where people know you, what sense does it make to be sent to a locality where people do not know you?
Forrest Gumps mama always sa-ed, stupid is as stupid does and that’s all he’s go to say about thy-at.
