Haslam’s Downscale Knoxville Press Briefing

Gene Patterson comments on the prospective gubernatorial candidate’s meet and greet with reporters:

Harrell says the Mayor will brief reporters tomorrow morning at Pete’s Cafe in downtown Knoxville.

The setting is not by accident.

If there are questions about Haslam - it’s his family connections. Can a rich guy, from a rich family really understand the needs and fears of the common person?

Pete’s is casual. There are no trappings of wealth. Just the kind of place a working man or woman would visit for a meat and three.

It’s exactly the image Haslam will push in his bid for the State’s highest office.
