Posted on December 13, 2008 at 11:21 pm

The Congressman praises Southerners “internal clocks” in her address to graduates at Mississippi State:

Rep. Marsha W. Blackburn, R-Tenn., addressed graduates at both the Friday night and Saturday morning programs.

The Laurel, Miss., native praised Southerners finely tuned internal clocks, explaining, We know the rhythms of life are to be enjoyed and not to be sped past.

“Anything worth doing is worth doing well and poor decisions are almost always made in a rush. When you rush to the finish line, you are speeding past opportunities.

“As you travel in life, listen to your internal clock and go at your own pace, a pace that reflects the studied contemplation of the front porch,” Blackburn said.

Funny, my internal clock tells me it’s time for Blackburn to shut up…

What she is saying in code is “be proud of your racist past and hold on to your racist roots, especially since now that we have a black President. Those opinions will help us Republicans when we talk, in code, and use the race card in the future.”

That’s what she is really saying.

Figures someone would beat me to that punchline! It’s funny that Blackburn would wax poetic about circadian rhythms or some such since her qualifications to be a congress critter are that she was a “colorist” as in, “I think you’re a fall, orange and rust tones work well for you,” etc. etc.

Davy, I am just like you and can recognize code talk. For instance, I know what *you* are saying in code.

“I have nothing really substanitive to say, so I’ll just call a Republican a racist. Who needs rational thought when name-calling is so neat!”

    Is that close enough?

    Dent,

No, if I really didn’t have anything substanitive to say, I would have said something like this:

“Anything worth doing is worth doing well and poor decisions are almost always made in a rush. When you rush to the finish line, you are speeding past opportunities.

“As you travel in life, listen to your internal clock and go at your own pace, a pace that reflects the studied contemplation of the front porch,”

I wish Mississippi would take her back. Regarding their export of Blackburn to Tennessee, I’ve inverted the usual, “Thank God for Mississippi” for making the rest of us look good in comparison to something a bit different. ;)
