Additional Names Floated For Tennessee Democratic Party Chair
By Kleinheider Posted on November 11, 2008 at 7:16 amKen Whitehouse reports:
Two more names being floated for the office are that of Nashville attorney’s Charles Robert Bone and Jerry Martin.
Bone, a Sumner County native, is a partner in the law firm of Bone, McAllester & Norton PLLC and served as finance chair for both the Obama Tennessee campaign and Harold Ford, Jr. for U.S. Senate.
Martin is a partner in the law firm of Barrett, Johnston, and Parsley and is a native of Bell Buckle. He most recently served as state director for Obama’s campaign in Tennessee as well as work with Bone on fundraising efforts. While some might scoff at the Obama experience of both Bone and Martin, remember they were largely tasked with generating phone banks into targeted states like North Carolina. Martin could forgo a run for party chair and concentrate on a possible run for U.S. Congress should the seat by Congressman Jim Cooper come available.
TNDP Treasurer Chip Forrester has already publicly expressed interest in succeeding Gray Sasser as chair, and according to Whitehouse, Sasser himself may be reconsidering his decision to step down.

Sasser = Frying Pan.
Bone = Fire.
Shouldn’t the TNDP become more progressive? Maybe try a *GASP* woman or minority? Maybe try someone who is younger and energetic who can employ a 95 county strategy. Just a guess…
Yes! Why not install a token representative of some minority group just for the fun of it, no matter who’s qualified.
Selecting a qualified woman or minority is a great idea. Selecting a woman or minority just to appear diverse is disingenuous and stupid. Stay in DC - you’re out of touch.
- Matthew
Matt, I’m pretty sure the TNDP would pick a qualified person to head up their party regardless of race or sex. They just need to stay away from anyone named “Sasser”.
