They Hate Kurita That Much

Posted on October 20, 2008 at 9:35 am

The Tennessee Republican Party wonders why Democrats in Tennessee continue to work with political consultants Fletcher, Rowley, Chao, Riddle, Inc. after a Congressman they worked with allegedly promised his mistress a job with the company:

This election cycle, FRCR is doing or has done work for several Democrats running for the Tennessee legislature, including state Senate candidate Tim Barnes - the candidate hand-picked by a few dozen Democrat insiders after Democrat party elites rejected the votes of 4,477 people in the primary and installed Barnes, the certified loser of the election, as the winner.

The Tennessee Democratic Party, instead of ignoring a release likely to get ignored, decides to issue a corrective press release giving life to the story that the company doing a majority of the media for Democratic Party candidates in Tennessee is in the midst of a national scandal:

For the Tennessee Republican Party, fact-checking has long been overlooked, according to Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Gray Sasser correcting an erroneous press release distributed by the TNGOP earlier this morning. Fletcher, Rowley, Chao, and Riddle previously worked for Senator Rosalind Kurita in the District 22 Democratic Primary Election. Contrary to the TNGOP’s claim this morning, FRCR has never entered into a contractual agreement with the Tim Barnes campaign. The Tennessee Democratic Party, however, has hired Scout Communications for independent expenditures in Senate District 22.

They’re pouring thousands upon thousands of dollars into a campaign against a write-in candidate… Gray Sasser issues a press release almost daily now attacking Senator Kurita. The governor has done commercials, radio spots, and mail pieces for Barnes. They’re terrified.

The response in Kurita’s favor Saturday at early voting in Montgomery was overwhelming. 9 out of 10 people who came close to a Kurita supporter took the post card instructing them on how to write her name in. Most of them had encouragement for the Senator.

Meanwhile, Tim Barnes, et al. stood away from people and had a handler who introduced him to the… two or three people who wanted to talk to him. The “rally” they had at 10… 10:30 featured Beverly Merrero and Thelma Harper, two State Senators no one even knows in Clarksville - and who are essentially irrelevent. They spent most of their time scowling at Senator Kurita and lamenting the “horrible experience” they had in the Senate under Ron Ramsey.

And after all that? Well, the few supporters Barnes rallied stood at the edge of the parking lot shouting at those who drove by. One man was even beating a drum! They were abrasive and rude.

Meanwhile, voters came out of the polling location and shot a thumbs up to Kurita or said, “That’s one more vote for you this time!”

    Hmmm.

Matthew Hurtt wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him in the ass.

BTW, why has the blog become a mouthpiece for the Tennessee Republican Party?

I’m sorry, Lame. Were you there?

And do feel free to clarify what about my initial comment was false… I’d be curious to know.

    Kleinhider,

Since when did you become Hobbs voice in the blogs?

    Hurtt,

I was there on saturday and I don’t know what you saw, Tim Barnes didn’t stand away from people but he didn;t bombard people and their vehicles like Ms. Kurita and Ramsey’s stooges. The Democratic rally you are speaking of was conducted in a place so not to bother with voters trying to park. Rep. Pitts introduced Tim Barnes.

Mrs. Kurita is not on the ballot because she broke the law. It was her actions that made Democrats in the district remove her from the ballot.

All I hear is talk about the television commercial with Bredesen and Barnes. I don’t think anyone even knows Kurita is running, much less how to vote for her.

After every so many posts, I see comments that say, in so many words, either “ACK is a shill for the GOP” or “Kleinheider, it’s obvious you’re pushing a left-wing agenda.”

Seems to me that the blogger is doing something right. Keep up the good work.

Kurita people, stand on the sidewalks outside post offices — the sidewalks that aren’t on federal property. You can catch many people that way and tell them how their votes don’t count after the Democrats get through with them.

    Ft. Campbell Dem -

With all due respect, I was 20 feet from Barnes the entire morning. The only people he addressed directly were his family and his visiting Senators, the former who already voted for him and the latter who couldn’t. And the Kurita people were courteous and friendly, and not as you’ve described them. They campaigned far beyond the “do not cross” line, as is typical with political candidates and their supporters.

I have no issue with you. I have an issue with Lame making blatantly false statements and refusing to back them up.
