Getting Your Story Out First

It turns out that the Democratic candidate in Senate District 26 received the exact same farm subsidy Democrats criticized his Republican opponent for receiving:

Randy Camp received $3,500 during each of the last two years and has been approved for $5,000 more this year to help pay for hay storage facilities on his Crockett County farm, according to the state Department of Agriculture.

From the article, “. . . Camp was not a member of the General Assembly and had already left his former high-ranking state jobs when he applied for the money. . . . Camp would not accept the $5,000 he has been approved for but has not yet received, and would not apply for future grants.”

Surely, you’re not trying to argue that a private citizen accepting these grants is the same as a member of the House Agriculture Committee voting to give herself these grants. To top it off, Camp even refused to accept a grant once he became a candidate for the Senate and pledged not to apply as a senator.

    These two aren’t even close.
