Bill Brock Warns That Wage Depression Could Tear At Nation’s Social Fabric

Posted on October 20, 2008 at 8:40 am

One of Tennessee’s first modern Republican statewide officeholders talks economics:

“The challenge is that coalescing labor markets are pushing wages down at all skill levels,” said Bill Brock, a former Lookout Mountain resident and one-time U.S. trade representative. “The result is there’s going to be continued downward pressure on our basic standard of living.

“I want to tell you,” Mr. Brock warned. “If you want to see the social tensions of this country explode, let that go on (without taking action).”
