Blame Canada
By Kleinheider Posted on October 14, 2008 at 10:43 amThe TNGOP, as well as the Ken Yager for Senate campaign, strike back about a direct mail piece making the rounds calling out Yager for going to Canada:
What Ruppe doesn’t say is that Yager traveled to Toronto in 2004 to recruit businesses to Roane County on a trade mission sponsored by a member of Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen’s administration, Tennessee’s Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, Matt Kisber. Yager made the trip with the president of the Oak Ridge Economic Partnership and 40 other economic development representatives from Tennessee including city and county mayors. (The Oak Ridger, September 28, 2004)
“Ken Yager spent his 24 years as Roane County Executive working to bring good jobs to the area,” said Yager campaign manager Robert Kuykendall. “Apparently, Becky Ruppe does not believe that recruiting these jobs is time well spent for a county executive.”
Seee the full mail piece at this link.
The Democratic response courtesy of Mark Brown:
“Ken Yager believes that “economic development” means wasting taxpayer money on luxury hotels and meals at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Morton’s. Most Tennesseans believe that economic development is about hard work and communication, not living high on the hog on the taxpayer’s dime.”

Talk about a desperate reply. Somebody else told me to go to Canada!!! Hey, Yager, did somebody else tell you to raise taxes through the roof and give yourself a big, fat payraise? Guess the devil made him do it.
The stupid Tennessee Republican Party uses 2007 figures in their release. Hey, idiots, that’s after Yager left office as Roane County mayor. They also talk about all the Canadian companies in Tennessee, but they don’t say how many are in Roane County.
Come on, B-Ho and Robin, tell us exactly how many jobs that Ken Yager’s wining and dining in Canada brought to Roane County.
I think I smell fear from the democrats and their favorite comfort woman Becky Ruppe. Ken brought jobs to Roane county while Becky got Morgan county sued by the Department of Justice for sexual misconduct in the prisons, guess she was on yet another honeymoon while that was happening. FYI- its kind of hard to use 2008 figures when the year isnt over yet smart guy. You democrats are all about change- get rid of the corrupt Kilbys and their stooge Becky and vote Ken for some real economica growth.
CntryGrrl there you are again talking crap about how many times Ruppe been married… I think you are sore you cant find a man!!! Poor thing!
Ken Yager is nothing but a TAX AND SPEND GOOD OL BOY POLITICIAN… I am ready for a change. I am ready for a strong woman to take charge. I am ready for Becky Ruppe to be my next senator. Not someone that may or may not (shall we say butters his bread on a certain side) (WINK WINK) if you know what Im talking about.
Seems I heard that the Tennessee Department of Labor reports that Roane County had 2,300 fewer jobs when Yager left office than it did when he started working on his industrial park. Only Republican math could turn that into job creation.
Also, why don’t you Yager lovers tell us how many millions of dollars over budget that industrial park went? 10 million? 11 million?
And why don’t you explain - because Yager never could - why he took a salary as county executive, but made the taxpayers pay him to chair committee meetings and even managed to get a teaching gig at Roane State Community College? That would be another taxpayer check for Yager.
Let’s talk about Ruppe from a fellow Morgan Countian that knows EVERYONE involved in the sordid little Kilby,Sr/Kilby,Jr/Ruppe machine.
Kilby Sr. is a convicted felon who also ran a bar/club in west Morgan County called the Slab Shack. It was a known place for drugs and prostitution. Guess who worked there? Yep. Becky Ruppe.
Tommy Jr, our “illustrious” state senator, is a former Baptist preacher who says “God told him to lay down his Bible and run for Senate.” Hmmm… I can’t imagine God telling anyone to lay down their Bible! Furthermore, Kilby Jr is not only behind in his child support and tuition payments to the the tune of $15000+, he seems to find great pleasure at various “adult establishments” in Nashville.
Now, Ms Ruppe is in a league all to herself. There are FOUR marriages documented in Morgan County and rumors of Three more in other counties for a total of SEVEN. This speaks directly to her sense of judgement and morality. Additionally, she has had a long term affair with Kilby Sr for years and he is still the one who pulls her strings. She is not intelligent enough to be County Executive - MUCH LESS State Senator - by herself.
And for the record, Ken Yager has a wife and two wonderful well-adjusted children. He “butters his bread”correctly,thank-you,and fights like a man, unlike Ruppe who does her fighting on her back.
I am very disappointed in the remarks of Mrs Harper.
Actually I AM ASHAMED OF HER.
THose are aweful things to say about other person.
If you want to play that way…
ASK YAGER ABOUT THE BOY THAT COMMITTED SUCIDE!
By the way, my name is Hopper, not Harper.
Still ashamed!
