Well, Republicans Usually Do Better On Absentee Ballots Anyway

Posted on October 10, 2008 at 4:18 pm

Oopsie-daisy:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s last name is spelled “Osama” on hundreds of absentee ballots mailed out this week to voters in Rensselaer County.

The misspelling, which elections officials on both sides of the aisle insist was simply a typo, is causing embarrassment for the county.

This is from Joe Bruno’s old district and it’s McCain Country over there anyhow…hard as it may be to believe that any place so close to Albany is hardcore red-state. Bruno was a Republican Senate Majority Leader and was widely considered the most powerful man in NY state; he was a corrupt bastard, but he was also a rainmaker for the upstate and people up here adored him. He had to abruptly retire, allegedly cutting some sort of deal with the NY atty general that allowed him to retire without public embarrassment or hard time. Anyhow, it’s a big machine (because that’s the way they do it in upstate NY) and they do things down and dirty over there. No one in that part of the county was going to be voting for Obama anyhow.
