A Kurita Endorsement

Posted on October 9, 2008 at 11:46 am

From the campaign:

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Voters Council has reaffirmed their endorsement of Senator Rosalind Kurita (D-Clarksville). The council is a voter advocacy group focused on minority issues. It had endorsed Sen. Kurita in the Democratic Primary, an election won by Kurita and certified by Tennessee’s State Coordinator of Elections. Her victory was overturned by the state Democratic Party and the loser of the primary was declared the winner by local Democratic Party heads.

“I am so honored to receive the continued support of the Voters Council,” Sen. Kurita said. “This election is about respecting individual voting rights and making every vote count. The majority of those who voted in the primary have had their votes thrown away. It is shocking that such a thing could happen in the modern era. That it could happen shows that the work of the Voters Council is more important than ever.”
