Goin’ In For All Day: Ford Gets Fourteen

Posted on September 29, 2008 at 5:35 pm

From the Commercial Appeal:

U.S. Dist. Court Judge Todd J. Campbell sentenced former state senator John Ford of Memphis to an additional 14 years in prison late this afternoon.

He ordered the sentence to be served consecutively — that is, on top of — the 5 years he is currently serving for his conviction in a separate case in Memphis last year.

Combine the two sentences and you get 19 years, then multiply by 85% - the minimum time you have to do under federal sentencing guidelines - and he is there for the next 15 1/2 years, roughly.

Given that Ford is 65, he will never likely see the outside of a prison again.

He will feel right at home in the big house. It is not much different then the legislature.
