TNGOP Executive Director: Kurita’s Election Stolen By “Union Thugs”

Posted on September 24, 2008 at 12:08 pm

From Jamie Dexter:

Randy Stamps, executive director of the Tennessee Republican State Committee, said he feels good about Republicans’ chances throughout the state.

Of the two candidates for the 22nd seat of the state Senate, he asked that Republicans support Sen. Rosalind Kurita, adding that her election was stolen by “union thugs.”

“We need to try and send Rosalind Kurita back to Nashville,” Stamps said to a large round of applause.

Kurita is running as a write-in candidate against local attorney Tim Barnes after her August Democratic primary victory over him was vacated by the state’s Democratic Party. Local Democratic executives gave Barnes the nomination.

Interesting, because I distinctly remember Jerry Lee, President of the AFL-CIO, standing among the group of supporters outside the meeting after the vote had taken place.

Wait, I though the GOP was talking nice about unions this cycle (i.e. referencing the “First Dude”’s union membership) to try to trick voters into thinking McCain doesn’t have the virulent anti-working class record that he has. Hobbsie’s off message…..

The choices are not always wonderful, but in some important ways, the union folks have cut their own throats by supporting the Democrats.
