Rosalind Kicks It: Barnes A “Certified Loser”

The write-in campaign is on:

Speaker Pro Tempore Rosalind Kurita (R-Clarksville) today kicked off a write-in campaign to confirm her primary victory overturned last night by Democrat Party officials. Her victory was certified by the Tennessee Coordinator of Elections on September 4th and all three county election commissions last month but Democrat Party officials overthrew the election results last night at a local party meeting.

“This election was stolen after the results were certified by three county election commissions and the state Coordinator of Elections,” said Sen. Kurita. “I have been contacted by an overwhelming number of my constituents who have urged me to continue this campaign. I am going forward with this effort because I believe it is now bigger than any one person or candidate.”

In the August 7th primary, Sen. Kurita received 4,477 votes while her opponent received 4,458. After the results of her victory were certified, State Democrat Party officials voided the election in a meeting at a hotel in Nashville on September 13th, setting the stage for county Democrat officials to choose the certified loser of the August 7th race.

“As the State Senator who represents Ft. Campbell, I have a tremendous amount of constituents who are active and retired military,” said Sen. Kurita. “They have fought wars to overthrow dictators and install free and fair elections where official results are honored. I cannot let a certified election be tossed aside to please party bosses.”

“The majority of those who voted in the primary have been disenfranchised by having their votes thrown away,” said Sen. Kurita. “This campaign will be about fair and just elections and honoring the voice of the voters.”

    From this story:

“Speaker Pro Tempore Rosalind Kurita (R-Clarksville)”

The last time I checked, Nurse Kurita had eschewed any party affiliation and, in the best and most noble American tradition, was running as an independent.

Why does someone running for office HAVE to have a party brand? Is that the final certification point that makes them a true blue politician (as opposed to a statesman)?

Point of fact, she hasn’t renounced her party affiliation. This is a Fox News type maneuver, like when they cast Mark Foley as a (D).

wow, somebody finally got Kurita’s party affiliation correct! (not that there’s anything wrong with being a Republican, mind you)

She’s definitely a Democrat. I asked her last week and her answer was: of course, I’m still a Democrat. The state party did not speak for all Democrats when they made their incredibly backward decision to disenfranchise voters.
