An email sent out by the Senate Democratic Caucus today regarding the landslide victory of Tim Barnes in an electorate comprised of the partisan of the partisans:

Dear [Enthusiastic and loyal Democrat],

As we’re sure you have heard, we have a Democratic nominee in Senate District 22, and the Senate Democratic Caucus is united and energized in our efforts to elect Tim Barnes as the senator for Montgomery, Cheatham, and Houston Counties. We’ll send you an invitation soon for a meet and greet with Tim, but we wanted to take a few moments to tell you a little about Tim and about the momentum that’s growing behind our election efforts.

An attorney by trade, Tim has seen life from many different angles, and his life experience has given him insight into the wide array of issues he’ll face in the Senate. Growing up on a cotton and soybean farm in West Memphis, Arkansas, Tim learned from his father that one of the highest compliments a person can receive is to be called a good neighbor. He firmly believes in being responsible to and respectful of the people with whom he works.

After graduating from Harding University and getting his law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School, Tim moved to Clarksville in 1987 with his wife, Linda, who teaches English at Austin Peay State University. They have raised three lovely children while actively working to make Clarksville an even better place in which to work and raise a family.

Tim is coming to Nashville to help us face the challenges before us. He’s a problem solver, and he’s committed to working to continue balancing the state budget without new taxes, to expanding access to education so Tennesseans of all ages can get the skills they need to be successful in today’s economy, and to providing the high quality and affordable health care that everyone needs and deserves. We’re proud that Tim will join our caucus, and we know you’re going to enjoy working with him.

Finally, we want you to know that momentum is growing behind our efforts to put the Tennessee Senate back under Democratic control. Across this state, voters are responding to the message of common sense solutions and hard work that our candidates are taking to them. Support is growing for Randy Camp, Becky Ruppe, Eric Stewart, Jim Hawkins, Jean Anne Rogers, and Tim Barnes.

As always, we appreciate your support of our efforts and look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership. It is our firm belief that with a few more weeks of hard work and determination, we will put ourselves into position to elect a Democratic Senate speaker in January.

Sincerely,

Senator Joe Haynes
Caucus Chair

Senator Jim Kyle
Senate Democratic Leader

He’s seen life “from many different angles,” all right. From every obtuse angle calculation.
