7:56PM: Barnes 61 - 4. Crowd goes wild.
7:54PM: Vote in progress. Looking like Barnes.
7:51PM: Unlimited discussion is allowed but discussion is closed after one speaker for Kurita.
7:48PM: Tim Barnes speaks for a very short time. “I am ready to be a unifier.”
7:46PM: Tim Barnes is also nominated. Kurita forfeits the right to speak by not being here.
7:42PM: Linda Swindle moves to nominate Rosalind Kurita on behalf of the 4,000 disenfranchised voters.
7:40 PM: Brant Phillips counsel for the Tennessee Democratic Party is giving us a very dry, monotone recap of Saturday’s festivities.
7:36 PM: 66 members are present. That’s a quorum, yo.
7:33 PM: The convention has been called to order
7:25 PM: A Jim Kyle minion is in the house, a neutral party I have been assured previously. (Update: Two minions were actually in attendance.)
7:20PM: I am here at the Montgomery Ballroom at the Riverview Inn in Clarksville awaiting the “big decision” by the tri-county convention which will determine the Democratic nominee in State Senate District 22.
Thirty-five members are needed for a quorum and I am told the number in the room exceeds that threshold. Eighty-seven members total are eligible to vote.
Word on the street is that Senator Kurita will not be here. Tim Barnes is here, and I am told that as a member of the committee, he is presumably entitled to a vote. Any name put in nomination, and there could be more than two, is entitled to one five minute speech.
The crowd seems restless. They are ready to get on with it. As am I.

Oy.
That’s all I have to say. Oy.
Wow. A purge in 30 minutes or less. Stalin would be proud.
If I had an anti-nausea drug, I’d take it.
Vote for write-in candidate Rosalind Kurita in November.
Hahaha! That’s all *I* have to say. Oh…and…get over it.
P.S.: Carter, much more professional tagging, and your non-blog piece was more “fair and balanced” than your previous “work” on this topic. Hey man, put your own professional future over this selfish skunk’s future.
I have been checking into this, and I am far less sympathetic to Kurita than I was at first. I still believe registration by party is the way to go, but the Democratic Party had every right to do as they did.
Ramsey must be stopped, and I am sending a check to Tim Barnes.
[...] 2008 by demarcationville I’m a bit baffled by this Kurita controversy. I understand that Barnes is in, Kurita is out. And “crossover” voting (oh, you can bet your sweet fanny there were Ron [...]

[...] No good for Tennessee Democrats. [...]
Last time I checked, it was still legal to vote and be a registered independent. I should have a voice in my community, regardless of whether the candidate I choose to vote for is Democratic or Republican. TN Democratic Party - You took away my vote. No worries, I’m sure the GOP will appreciate it as I will NEVER give you this opportunity again! GO KURITA!
One person, one vote.
That is the touchstone of our United States of America, the basis of our freedoms and Liberties.
The poor man, with rags on his back and dirty calluses on his hands, for one brief shining moment, is just as powerful as the multi-millionaire man with soft hands and a big car.
That one brief shining moment is at our American Ballot Box. The poor man has one vote. The rich man has one vote. That is what our American heroes have been fighting and dying to defend since 1776.
Yet, a small, petty group of people in Tennessee think they are smarter than the generations old wisdom that built our nation and made it the shining beacon of Liberty among the nations of the world.
This group of people is trying to take away our one man - one vote equality.
This would be expected in 1938 Nazi Germany or 1955 Soviet Russia… but in 2008 Tennessee?!?
Like the generations of brave Freedom loving Americans who have before us, we need to fight this corruption of our Constitution and our American way of life.
One person, one vote.
Again, we are called to squelch those who would steal our American way of life. We are called to defend the very essence of what makes us Americans!
Go to http://www.rosalindkurita.com and get more information about an independent lady who stands up to corrupt political machines and party hack big-wigs. An independent lady who is an AMERICAN first!
That’s http://www.rosalindkurita.com.
Show the usurpers of our dearly cherished American Freedoms and Equality… the big –wigs who think they can subvert other American’s rights… that we will NOT stand for their shenanigans!
Contribute to Nurse Rosalind’s campaign. If you are in Tennessee’s Cheatham, Houston and Montgomery Counties…
USE YOUR WRITE-IN POWER AND VOTE FOR NURSE ROSALIND KURITA!!
(And if you are in a humorous mood, SING your support for Nurse Kurita! http://www.cooljim.com)
ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE!

Way to go!!
That’s how we run things in California too!
We have a Democrat Politburo - The Central Committee” - they do it all so we don’t even have to worry our fuzzy little hippie heads about voting!
They choose the candidates, the districts are gerrymandered to guarantee a “win” - and then they all go to Sacramento where the Teacher’s Union buys dinner!
Congratulations!
