The Tri-County Kurita Convention To Be Held Wednesday
By Kleinheider Posted on September 15, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Post Politics has learned that the tri-county convention to determine the nominee in State Senate District 22 will be held this Wednesday, September 17.
Eighty-eight members, made up from all three counties (Cheatham, Montgomery and Houston) executive committees, comprise the eligible voters in the proceeding. Only thirty-five members will be needed for a quorum. Gene Lewis, the Chairman of the Montgomery County party, will serve as convention chair.
The convention is set to be held in the Montgomery Room of the Riverview Inn in Clarksville. Doors will open at 6:30 pm. The big fun is set to start at 7:30pm.
The convention became necessary when the Tennessee Democratic Party’s Executive committee, acting as the Tennessee Democratic Party Primary Board, threw out the results of the August 7th Democratic Primary between incumbent Senator Rosalind Kurita and attorney Tim Barnes ruling that election outcome was “incurably uncertain.”
Earlier today, Senator Kurita filed her official certificate of write-in candidacy for the general election to ensure that her campaign for re-election could go on no matter what the outcome of Wednesday’s convention.

so, presumably they will pick Barnes and then Ros, with the unabashed backing of Ramsey, will challenge him with a write-in campaign.
Kyle and the Senate Caucus need to raise a lot of $$$ for Barnes, because it’s going to get ugly as the Kurita campaign will attempt to portray her as St. Rosalind of Clarksville, with those evil men from the Senate Democrats just being all sexist and stuff.
Look, what happened Saturday was wrong to my way of thinking, they STILL need to get registration by Party.
However, if this is going to be Barnes vs. Kurita, The Sequel, then count me on Barnes’ side. HERE is where we make her pay for her misdeeds. Kyle has as much riding on this as Kurita, so he had better pull out all the stops.
Gene Lewis is a man…not Jean Lewis
Indeed. Corrected.
Uh, Left Wing, I like your sentiments…but if you think ANYONE can win a write in election, you are crazy.
Her name isnt even on the ballot. She doesnt have any money. And the GOP may like her to hang around sometimes, but when it comes down to Mike Faulk getting their money or ol’ Kurita, you can guess how that will go.
Kurita is done.
Maybe Kyle can bus some dead people to Clarksville. Or maybe he’ll bring a bill allowing Barnes to declare himself the winner. Or just register a bunch of people into the same address.Isn’t Kyle the guy that lost Kurita’s vote for speaker in the first place.
Curably corrupt.
As if the presidential election wasn’t petty and low enough, we have this sickening mess. Kurita is mean spirited and ran a nasty campaign so I voted for Tim Barnes. He turns out to be a sore loser and is trying to take an election he lost. We need somebody else to run for the senate.
