TNGOP Decries Treatment Of Kurita

Robin Smith on the shenanigans at the Sheraton:

“The actions of the TN Democrat Executive Committee damage the health of our voting process with an infection of backroom deals and electioneering further disenfranchising the electorate”, remarked Robin Smith, Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party. “Removing Tennessee’s highest elected Democratic woman from a race that she won, kicking to the curb the supporters of Hillary Clinton, and rabidly attacking Sarah Palin are stunning tactics from a party that depends so heavily on the demographic of women voters and claims to be the party of ‘women’s ‘rights’.”

“The standard practice of political thuggery only adds to the frustration that voters have in the political system. The repeated calls for ‘women’s rights’ and ‘voter’s rights’ rings hollow and vacant when Democrat Party leaders orchestrate a different outcome of an election after the voters have spoken,” concluded Smith.

“While a strong woman bucks her party to do what’s best for her state with a record of reform is nominated as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, another strong woman, with a reformist streak voting for what she believes is best for her state, has her election made void by the Tennessee Democrats.”

Just as a politically independent feminist, I advise Tennessee women to rethink any association they have with the Tennessee Democratic Party. I was more impressed with and comfortable with the Georgia Democratic Party in terms of their treatment of women, though in later years I was working against them on fiscal and immigration-control issues. I noticed a distinct misogynistic air about the Tennessee Democratic Party after I moved back here. Tell ‘em to kiss it. You can find other options. I did. You will get more respect from the Republicans. They’ve shown that. As I do, you will differ from the GOP on some issues, but you can make your case and try to change some minds.

Women in this state should be jumping up and down because of the actions by the TDP. It was because of Kurita that many of the issues that women care about never made it to the floor of the Senate and died in Republican controlled committees. The reason the Repubs are so upset is because they see their power slipping away and they also know that they won’t be able to control things in the upcoming legislature.

    Donna,

you will differ from the GOP on some issues

Those are the issues that are the most distinctly anti-feminist. Anti-choice, anti-health care, anti-pay equity. They’re not going to change their minds just by “making your case,” those are some of the issues that their whole platform is based on.

Does the TNDP need a major shake-up? Yes. But the Republicans are still worse.

The issues that GoldnI brings up in the above post are the same issues that never made it to the floor last year. This is what you get with Republican leadership in the Senate.

Listen, just as there are Blue Dog Democrats, “conservative” in some ways as they define the word, there are Republicans who are pro-choice, not averse to fairness on gay issues, and with other big-tent leanings I could mention, some of which I can’t abide, which is why I won’t be voting for McCain. We really need another political party or two to get us all better categorized, but what I’m telling you women here is, By their fruits you will know them. I’ve seen enough.

Oh, now it’s a woman (sexist) thing, according to the TN Hobbsian enabler.

I’d call this the Big Lie.

And Kleinheider, using the word “shenanigans” in “reportage” like this isn’t going to advance your career anywhere near respectable.

All I seek is your respect, Mr. Wintermute. Only then will my proverbial cup be truly full.

Anything Robin Smith says in this regard rings hollow. While I believe the TNDP booted this one, the Goopers haven’t had any room to talk since they ran out everyone to the left of Attila the Hun.

My son was the the deputy campaign director that Barnes’ attorney lied about. He is eighteen years old and was not allowed to defend himself against the charges even though I repeatedly requested from Senator Sasser that he be allowed to speak and defend himself of the lies that were being told about him. Senator Sasser refused saying that Matthew could not testify according to Robert’s rules of order. Although they did allow heresay and rumors that could not be substantiated and no one could even say who told them the rumors into evidence my son was not allowed to speak one word in his own defense.

    Tammy,

Gray Sasser is not a Senator (though he may want to be someday).

Why didn’t the Kurita team attempt to call your son as a witness?
