Timing Is Everything

It would appear that Mike Faulk’s big TV buy for his state Senate race comes on the same day as some unflattering allegations about him hit the papers. Interesting:

The ad purchase of nearly $75,000 makes Mike Faulk the first of the state senate candidates to be on television in the 2008 election cycle.  The ad campaign is promised as a first installment of paid media planned by the Republican candidate in the 4th State Senate District covering Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson and Union counties.

    Read the press release —

“”The hard work of so many friends and the overwhelming support that I have received from the people of the 4th Senate district have made it possible for me to reach living rooms across the six counties,” said Mike Faulk.  “I am humbled so many people believe in my campaign.”

In addition to the media buy, Faulk’s campaign will continue to focus on traditional grassroots community events and door to door visits throughout the six counties as it has for months.

“I talked with thousands of folks in Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson and Union counties about the issues we all face every day,” said Faulk.

Faulk, an avid hunter, outdoorsman and conservationist, is a Church Hill attorney who is an 8th generation Hawkins Countian.  His 26 year professional career has been capped by recognition as one of the state’s leading experts for victims of drunk driving.”

While it is a good thing that Faulk is a noted lawyer for DUI victims, why then is Faulk accepting campaign donations from political action committees representing the liquor wholesalers and wine industries? And if you had not actually read through the Faulk online campaign finance disclosures, one might be deceived by the implied campaign statement that all of Faulk’s campaign contributors originate from within the Tennessee 4th Senate District of Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson and Union counties in rortheast Tennessee.
