All Faulked Up: State Senate Candidate Accused Of Affair With Married Schoolteacher
By Kleinheider Posted on September 12, 2008 at 7:14 amState Senate candidate Mike Faulk, the Republicans only hope of unseating a former Republican, now Independent incumbent, who sides with the Democratic Caucus, has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with a young Republican activist:
But his campaign is facing unexpected trouble because the chairwoman of the Hawkins County Young Republicans has circulated a letter discouraging other Republicans from supporting Faulk, saying he had an affair with her during the race and criticizing him for repeatedly denying it.
“My ability to perform my job in leading this organization has been tainted due to my inappropriate, extramarital relationship with state Senate Candidate Mike Faulk,” said the letter sent from the work e-mail account of Rogersville elementary school teacher Kelli Walker.
This is not the first state Senate race where the word adultery is fixing to play a pivotal role. Randy Camp, looking to keep former Lt. Gov. John Wilder’s seat in Democratic hands, has seen his former brother-in-law put his admitted adulterous relationships out in the street.
UPDATE: See Kelli Walker’s full email detailing her resignation from the Hawkins County Young Republicans at this link.

Typical TNGOP- run on family values while screwing a married 2nd grade school teacher working to get you elected. Let’s hear what the haters like Bill Hobbs have to say about this. Oh- they won’t have anything to say because they are partisan hacks and complete moral hypocrites. What a bunch of loosers!
Looks like the NASCAR senator knows how to spin out his opponent after all. To quote the late Dale Earnhardt SR., that’s just racin’!

Damn nice headline.
MICHAEL FAULK SHOULD BE JUDGED ON WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR THE COMMUNITY AND WHAT HE WILL DO IN THE SENATE; NOT ON SCANDAL. HE HAS DONE ALOT FOR THE CITY OF CHURCH HILL, THE PEOPLE, AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS. HE DONATED HIS JUGUAR TO THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT.S IN THE AREA TO HELP RAISE MONEY TO KEEP THE DOORS OPEN. HE IS A PART OF THE ORGANIZATION TO GIVE BOOKS TO SCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE LOCAL SCHOOLS. HE EVEN HELPED FUND CHILDREN TO GET TO GO TO THE KINGSPORT METS GAME. HE HAS ALWAYS GIVEN IN THE COMMUNITY IN SOME FORM OR FASHION FOR MANY YEARS WITHOUT ANYTHING IN RETURN. HE IS ONE HECK OF A LAWYER TOO, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT HIS LAW CAREER. HE HAS ALWAYS HAD TIME TO HELP SOMEONE IN NEED, OR TO JUST LEND AN EAR. THE ISSUE SHOULD BE WHAT HE CAN DO FOR US IN THE SENATE, NOT WHAT A VENDICTIVE PERSON IS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH. IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO. HER LOYALTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN WITH HER HUSBAND– SHE WAS THE ONE MARRIED. IT HAS YET TO BE VERIFIED AS A TRUTH, YET WE CONDEMN MIKE FAULK. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, IS HE RUNNING FOR SAINTHOOD, OR IS HE RUNNING FOR SENATE; WHERE HE CAN HELP THE PEOPLE OF THIS AREA TO HAVE BETTER LIVES. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW THAT WOULD DONATE A JAGUAR TO HELP THE COMMUNITY, WHETHER IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR, OR IN POLITICS. AGAIN, LOOK AT WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. WE NEED SOMEONE THAT IS WILLING TO JUMP IN AND TRY TO IMPROVE OUR SYSTEM, SO THAT WE ALL HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE TO SUCCEED IN LIFE.
[...] MICHAEL FAULK… [...]
IS HE RUNNING FOR SAINTHOOD, OR IS HE RUNNING FOR SENATE
I agree, Nina. As far as the state legislators go, I don’t care what they do in their private lives as long as it isn’t illegal — and their votes or potential votes look good to me. We have to do triage here and get our priorities straight. We are not going to get a chamber full of saints. Saints don’t seem to run for office. Get over it.
Donna Locke writes, “I don’t care what they do in their private lives as long as it isn’t illegal.”
What a load of horseshit. If Mike Faulk were a Democrat, Donna Locke, Bill Hobbs, Robin Smith, and Ron Ramsey would be hyperventialing as they screamed from the rooftops about the need to run the guy out of public life.
The Tennessee Republican Party has no moral compass.
Yes, we have a moral compass. It involves keeping an eye on the Big Picture — and the many, not just the one.
I’m not speaking for the others you named there, by the way, but for the coalition member group of which I’m a part.
Hey Nina,
Sounds like Mike is a “Community Organizer.”
What matters is morals. He committed adultery and wrecked a marriage. As someone who recently went through a divorce you would think Mike would be smart enough to steer clear of the situation. He could have had any woman he wanted and he chose one that swore an oath before God. When has it ever been OK to sleep with a married person?
That said, are you going to take morals from a subjective stance now on? It’s not immoral to sleep with someone whom you are not married to and is themselves married and parented? Is not abortion immoral? Or would we sacrifice that value as well if Mike Faulk payed for one, just because he helped a volunteer fire department?
Whether something is there or not Mike should state his side clearly and concisely. Leave the legalese at the office.
[...] Hey Nina, Sounds like… [...]
It is my understanding that the only difference in personal history is that Mike Williams was married and having affair(s). Faulk was divorced. Both were wrong and will have to seek God’s forgiveness. There was only one perfect person and He died 2008 years ago. Seems like a wash to me.
Voters in District 4 now need to move ahead with the issues at hand. Do you want more government such as Bredesen’s twenty million dollar ballroom for his wife or do you wish an economically responsible government?
I WAS CHEATED ON AND AM STILL REELING FROM IT, BUT I STILL FEEL THAT MY HUSBAND SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO BE FAITHFUL TO ME. THERE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE SOMEONE OUT THERE. THE TEACHER SHOULD HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL TO HER HUSBAND. I STILL FEEL THAT MIKE’S PERSONAL BUSINESS IS STILL HIS PERSONAL BUSINESS. HE WOULD MAKE A WONDERFUL SENATOR. HE WOULD LOOK OUT FOR OUR INTERESTS, IN MY OPIONION. AS I SAID BEFORE, LOOK AT HIS LAW CAREER. HE IS SMART AND HARDWORKING.
[...] based upon the statement Faulk’s campaign released yesterday, he has no intention of cleaning his mess or admitting he [...]
Republican Tennessee 4th Senate District candidate Mike Faulk — according to the Kelli Walker resignation letter — is an alleged homewrecker and Walker’s husband and children are the real victims in this matter.
This is a most glaring example of why Tennessee needs to have criminal laws protecting the families of traditional marriage against the likes of those such as Mike Faulk — and I seriously doubt that Faulk, if elected, would be the state senator to be introducing such laws.
Funny that nobody mentioned that the teacher had already broken up her husbands first marriage, he had children by his first wife, so she’s not so squicky clean by any stretch of the immagination. Betcha didn’t know that, did you. Might ought to talk to other teachers at both schools where she and her ex-husband work.
Tennessee 4th Senate District 4th Republican candidate Mike Faulk will continue to have my support, and I am sure, that of Tennessee Lt Governor Ron Ramses.
“Keep On Plowing, Mike!”
