Isn’t That What We’re Supposed To Do, Ya Know, Instead Of Looking To The Federal Government?

Posted on September 7, 2008 at 11:39 pm

Daniel Larison points out the utter ideological incoherency of conservatives opposing Barack Obama because of his stint as a community organizer:

One of the oldest, and still one of the best, retorts against supporters of the welfare state and centralism has been that private institutions and local communities are often better suited to the work that the central government takes over from them, and they help ensure that power is not concentrated in distant and unaccountable bureaucracies. They create intermediate institutions that can shield the people from the power of the state and provide support from fellow citizens on a local level that frees people from dependence on the state.

You guys are missing the point . . . Obama et al have derided the work of Palin as a small-town mayor yet lauded Obama’s ACORNish activism. And frankly, not all “local” and/or “private” and/or “non-federal” activism is commendable. Most Americans bristle at the Jeremiah Wright agenda for the disadvantaged.

“ACORNish”? Do you even know what you’re talking about? Or do you just make this crap up as you go?

Well,we all know that what Obama did 20 *years* ago is certainly an appropriate comparison to what Palin was doing twenty *months* ago.

Well, Obama did work for the ACORN group “Project Vote.” ACORN, as I’m sure “S-Town” knows has been in all sorts of hot water for fraudulent voter registrations and voter intimidation tactics.

As for OHB’s days as a community organizer, he was organizing people to try and get MORE money, MORE benefits, and MORE services from the federal government. That’s hardly conservative.

Larison, Sullivan, and all of the other fake conservatives are nothing but tools of the left.

in all sorts of hot water

If by “all sorts of hot water” you mean that conservative groups made allegations about Project Vote, then you are correct. But partisan-based allegations are as common as white on Sarah Palin supporters.

And pay no attention to Glen Dean. Once and a while he gets a favorable poll result up his skirts and he gains some ballast without actually elevating the debate.

Yes, and pay lots of attention to “S-town Mike.”

It is HILARIOUS for you to allege frivolous allegations, especially on the issue of GOP claims of vote fraud.
