A Noun, A Verb And POW

Posted on September 4, 2008 at 6:25 pm

An excerpt from John McCain’s address to the Republican National Convention:

I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not.”

“I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s. I loved it not just for the many comforts of life here. I loved it for its decency; for its faith in the wisdom, justice and goodness of its people. I loved it because it was not just a place, but an idea, a cause worth fighting for. I was never the same again. I wasn’t my own man anymore. I was my country’s.

So he didn’t love it before he visited the Hanoi Hilton? Please, enough with the POW angle already. I wasn’t a POW but I am a vet. I’m tired of him acting like his POW stint is the answer to the question, “Why should we vote for you?” I guess it’s because unlike Obama he can’t articulate his stands on various issues. Well, at least articulate other than parrot his buddy W.

I heard a lady today say she’s voting for Obama because his healthcare plan and taxcuts will make her life better. I cant help but shake my head at people like that. The only person that can make your life better is the reflection you see in the mirror. Also has anyone got their middle class taxcut yet that Clinton promised in ‘92?

And supply side economics has made her life better? Give breaks to the rich with the absurd utopian notion that they’ll invest it so that it benefits all? Trickle-down is trickled on, to borrow from Harry Truman. And I think it’s funny you’d try to knock Bill Clinton. You certainly can’t defend your guy W on economics or anything else. That would be trying to defend the indefensible!

Clinton - Peace, Prosperity, Budget Surplus
Bush - None of those things!

So he and Cindy were always “proud” of America, but he didn’t love it until his late 30s.
