Why Palin And Not Jindal?

Posted on August 29, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Eve Fairbanks explores the cynicism:

Both Palin and Jindal are young reformers tackling hellaciously corrupt states. Palin is a few years older, but Jindal — who reformed Medicaid in Louisiana, served as an Assistant HHS Secretary, and did several years in Congress — has more experience. Is there any difference between what the two accomplish as v.p. picks, except that Jindal seems modestly stronger and Palin has two X chromosomes?

Jindal made it clear he’s in LA for the long haul.

Um and Jindal exorcised a woman?

And he’s Indian. The GOP rank and file would have a problem with that.

‘Um and Jindal exorcised a woman?’

I think he witnessed one. Guess he had to do something as an Indian to prove his belief in God

Or that Jindal was actually needed in LA this week to ensure there wasn’t a Katrina repeat?

No, a Katrina repeat would definitely be a FEMA/Homeland Security problem and thus a Bush repeat.

I imagine that being during the GOP necktie party, the hurricane aftermath will prompt the appropriate response this time.

I would have been equally excited about a Jindal pick, but he’s dedicated to Louisiana at this time. I’d like to see what naysayers have to say about a potential Jindal for Pres - or Vice Pres. He beat Walter Boasso handily in the gubernatorial election 52% to 14% (I believe) and there were several other candidates running. Jindal is wildly popular in LA and his straightforward and honest approach to government is a far cry from what Louisianans (?) are used to. “It’s refreshing,” saind a gentleman in an article I read recently.

I believe we’ll be seeing more out of Jindal, but I think now his state needs him.

I’m not sure what that means, but… ummm, might I remind you that WV Dems rejected Obama based on race. Traditional Southern DEMS won’t vote for Obama based on race.

I have no problem voting for an Indian man as either a VP or potentially even for President, and every Republican I’ve talked to feels the same way. There’s a lot of love for Bobby Jindal among Conservatives, or… the “rank and file,” as you call them.

Wow! Governor Jindal is making McCain’s choice so embarassing today. If Jindal wasn’t qualified with his remarkable presence today in the flight of Gustov, how could we ever consider Palin?

Absolutely no comparison. Except one looks better in a skirt. And one may be more culturally and acceptably conservative.
