Sometimes The “Call Me” Ads Write Themselves: Obama Kisses Jill Biden On The Lips
By Kleinheider Posted on August 28, 2008 at 6:52 amBrian Hornback cannot believe what he saw last night during Barack Obama’s surprise appearance at the Democratic Convention:
I was watching CSPAN and when Obama surprisingly appeared on stage Obama kissed Jill Biden squarely on the lips. For the record she ran backstage until she had the whole Biden family. Big Joe should have slugged Obama right then, right there. He should have defended his wife’s honor.

Sometimes, a kiss is just a kiss but I though it was kind of creepy myself. Obama would do well to avoid giving the republicans any attack fodder.
[...] Give Me a Kiss to Build a Dream On Posted on August 28, 2008 by Aunt B. Some days I regret even opening my feed reader. Tiny Pasture reports that there are actually people up in arms about Obama kissing Joe Biden’s…. [...]
If Obama’s white, nobody makes innuendo of this. It smells like traditional Anglo-American racial code and pricked Victorian taboo against “jungle fever” to me. “They’s miscegenatin’!”
What a total waste of bandwidth.
First off, he’s not kissing her on the lips, its more on the chin…obviously there wasn’t a good connection.
Second, I know many people who kiss their friends wife on the lips…maybe its a Yankee thing.
Are those who say that Biden needs to “defend his wife’s honor” the same as those who call Obama thin-skinned for doing the same for his wife?
[...] Sometimes The 鈥淐all Me鈥?Ads Write Themselves: Obama Kisses Jill … 1 hour ago [...]
This clip is hilarious. The classic zig zag grocery store aisle move, but with lips involved, with thousands of people looking on, not to mention a national broadcast. A good one for America’s Funniest Home Videos, but a far cry from “creepy”, inappropriate, or a violation of “honor.”
You’re really just turning into a full-on echo chamber for fringe, Hobbsian nonsense, ACK. Disappointing.
[...] My thoughts on the progress of racial minorities are different. Yes, it’s substantial progress to have minorities in public office all over the country, and a nominee for President from a major party. But it is just so easy to see how little progress has been made by skimming the paper in the morning (which I mean figuratively because I skim the paper online, like I do most things). As a Nashvillian I’m thinking largely of all the “English first” crap flying around lately, which may very well get its own post in the near future it is so offensive and misleading, but also of the fact that in the same night we can nominate a minority for President, people still get pissed that he kissed Joe Biden’s wife! [...]
I agree with Austin, zig zag for sure. I noticed it last night, and just figured the energy and excitement of the situation made lots of opportunities for little things like that to happen.
Whatever people! Get over it.
I think we have more important things to deal with than a momentary lapse of stagecraft at the convention.
Negroes are kissin’ white women in public?? Lordy, this world has gone to hell in a hand basket! Next thing you know, they’ll want us to say they’re human! Are my pearls clutched tightly enough?
Oy. Way to play on people’s fears, AC, not good at all…
I think ACK’s tone, if we could hear it instead of reading it on the internet tubes, would be clearly tongue-in-cheek.
I am hoping for tongue in cheek from AC as well–but he could have set it up better. There also were kisses from Joe to Michelle that came darn near the lips on Saturday. Why even make this a story. Better to have VP and Presidents that really like each other than sulk in each others presence and are jealous of one another for the entire time in office.
Good god…he obviously missed his aim. You’d think he’d slipped her the tongue or something.
Get a grip, people.
It’s only creepy in the sense that I find all that public kissing creepy. As a woman, I don’t want anyone but my husband to kiss me - a nice respectful hand shake or maybe one of those half-embraces (at a push) will do very nicely thank you.
Interesting video about obama.

You can tell he was just as surprised when they pulled back.
They were going for each other’ cheeks.
My mom does that all the time with her old friend from Italy and that whole ‘left cheek, then right cheek’ thing.
Personally, it was kinda cute.
