Phil Bredesen Has Eight Houses Behind His Sofa Cushions

Posted on August 24, 2008 at 9:48 pm

The Associated Press reports that our Governor took a pass on criticizing John McCain for forgetting how many houses he owns:

Bredesen, a wealthy former health care executive who campaigned for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in Ohio on Thursday and Friday, said he doesn’t consider the flap among “legitimate issue-oriented things” to criticize McCain about.

Property records show McCain and his family appear to own at least eight homes. Obama has seized on the issue to try to label McCain as out of touch with the financial concerns of regular Americans.

But Bredesen opted out of the call from the Obama campaign to harp on the issue.

“That’s not what I choose to do,” Bredesen said in a telephone interview. “I think McCain’s rich and Obama’s rich … As am I.”
