50 State Strategy

Posted on August 22, 2008 at 7:35 pm

What happened to it?

Obama was supposed to expand the electoral map this year in his landslide victory against John McCain in a year where Democrats had every advantage, and then some, over Republicans. If that was so, why then is Obama yanking campaign ads from seven red states just prior to the DNC?

FOXNews is reporting Obama has pulled ads from Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Virginia. Some of those make sense — Obama never really had a chance in Alaska or Georgia, for example — but Florida? Virginia?

Obama aides say they are not permanently pulling out of these seven states, and this ad pull is just part of their convention strategy.

It’s August. They’ll make the ad buys when the timing is right.

    Summer isn’t it.
