Rendell Will Cast His Ballot For Clinton

Posted on August 20, 2008 at 6:31 pm

The question is: exactly how many will follow suit and how many would equal embarrassment for Obama?:

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell has announced he will be casting his ballot for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention next week. The move is not surprising, as Mr. Rendell is a longtime Clinton ally who was instrumental in her Keystone State primary win.

“It honors the hard work of so many people who supported Sen. Clinton,” he told PolitickerPA. “Many of the Pennsylvania delegates worked their heart out for Sen. Clinton, and they’re excited to cast a vote for her. From my vantage point, that will be closure for them.”

This recent slip in the polls by Obama may send up a red flag to the DNC. If you remember, Hillary only “lost” the bid because of Superdelegates. If the Party senses a weakness, only 25% of Obama’s pledged Superdelegates would need to leave the Obama camp and scuttle over to the Clinton camp for there to be an issue. (About 60 or so Superdelegates would have to defect.)

I’m not altogether sure this fight is over…

Enough so that he doesn’t win the nomination. Other than that, nobody really cares what the final delegate count is.
