This Is Gonna Get Exciting If There Are Journalists On The List
By Kleinheider Posted on August 19, 2008 at 6:30 amHouse GOP Leader Jason Mumpower is joining the TNGOP and House Majority Leader Gary Odom in requesting that a list of names that a state trooper made unauthorized background checks on be released to the public:
The suspicion, particularly from Republicans, is that a politically connected patrol lieutenant, Ronnie Shirley, ran the checks for political reasons. Shirley’s name is the only one to surface in connection with the allegations.
Mumpower said his concerns are compounded by a mysterious incident a month and a half ago at his legislative office in the Capitol complex.
The Bristol Republican said an envelope appeared overnight in his locked office containing photocopies of THP arrest records involving a Republican candidate for state House. The arrest had happened years ago, and did not result in a conviction.
Mumpower would not identify the candidate but said the episode smelled of political dirty tricks.
“Intimidation is the only thing I can think of,” said Mumpower, who said THP officers who work at the Capitol have keys to the legislative offices, as do cleaning personnel and some staff members.
He specifically asked Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, and the state Safety Department to release the names.

Journalists on the list? If so, I’d bet they’d be Trent Seibert and Brad Schrade, maybe Phil Williams?
Jason Mumpower knows of a lot of illegal activity in Bristol and Sullivan county- (mind you- A Huge Amount) The abuses and mis-uses of political, judicial, and legal positions,in fact, he knows of false arrests ordered by local judges as favors for the so called privileged of this area; so why should it surprise anyone that he doesnt respond in action just denial (lies) about the drunk driving records being dropped off at his office. As we all can see that live in Bristol- doing what’s ethically and morally right is not wanted here- they prefer the ill repute- Every one of the Tennessee Republican party should bow their heads in disgrace and shame of how they have cheated the people they were elected to serve while they fatten themselves like cows with dishonest, irreputable behaviors and serve no one but themselves. They obviously dont have unity- their is no honor among thieves - and it shows in everything they do. And since Bristol thinks it is its own country- with its own version of laws and constitution not the same as the United States or the State of Tennessee, I guess that makes Jason Mumpower and Ron Ramsey as conspiring dictators- or court jesters on puppet strings for their favored “constituents” not the people of this community. If they want to change the people’s opinion- then they need to be like the Liberty insurance commercial- DO THE RIGHT THING.
Oh so sorry, I forgot, to “do the right thing” would require INTERGRITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, & BACKBONE of formidable roots that go along with that Responsiblity. I havent seen the fortitude in Jason Mumpower to take such a stance- he just wants his name in big lights. If my opinion of him is wrong, then he has the “power” to prove me wrong (but in the case of Bristol- they just harass and terrorize any objectors by abuse through their judicial and police units- that’s how they quiet the truth)- It is his chance to rectify the ills of not only the Republican party but the area he lives in- and he most definitely knows what I’m talking about when I mention BRISTOL just like every citizen that lives in this community knows. I’m sure most have read about the Tennessee Waltz, well the dance is still going on here- stronger and bolder than anything I’ve ever seen. But since its those in charge doing the dance- they get to dirty dance and innocent citizens of Bristol get to pay for their steps. Hopefully, this new era of “Change” will no longer tolerate “business as usual” from the hills of Tennessee’s political circus - and either Jason Mumpower will be gallant or go to the gallows with the rest of his Republican party.
