The Rednecks Didn’t Vote For Who They Were Supposed To
By Kleinheider Posted on August 8, 2008 at 10:00 amIlissa Gold on the the curious results of the Democratic U.S. Senate primary:
On that note, Jeff Foxworthy once said that if you can name the entire cast of “The Dukes of Hazzard” but not your Congressman….well then, you might be a redneck. Apparently, Democrats in Districts 1 and 4 must have thought they were voting for Lincoln Davis (I HOPE that District 1 realizes that David Davis is a Republican at least) instead of Gary Davis.
Districts 1 and 4 FAIL. Common surnames WIN.
Seriously though, it is pretty sad when so many people confuse their Congressmen with a gadfly Senate candidate. We’re proving everyone right about our fair state.

Or, maybe the voters are smarter than Ms. Gold
Probably not, Mickey…
I’d like to propose another possibility: they won fair and square. Just a thought.
Gary G. Davis won Hamilton County by some TWENTY POINTS over the next nearest contender (Bob Tuke). He had not one sign (that I saw), nor website, nor radio or TV ad — nothing in this county.
I’m not saying that Gary Davis wasn’t a fine candidate, nor am I saying that voters are dumb; but I am saying that we here in Hamilton County had no idea who he is or that he was running. Yet he won big. That says, to me, that people mistook him for someone else (probably Congressman Lincoln Davis).
Maybe they are transplanted Californians voting for “Gray” Davis.
