Dude, It’s Gary, Not Lincoln

Posted on August 7, 2008 at 8:40 pm

What’s the deal with the Gary Davis totals for U.S. Senate? Do people think they are voting for Lincoln Davis?

In a low profile race, ballot position and a good last name can apparently take you pretty far. Or not….

Ultimately, even if Gary Wade doesn’t win…the fact that he got so far with zero name recognition among the political circles or press, shows that we don’t know everything, and should never count out the underdog.

UPDATE: A reader points out that if you look at the map a significant portion of Davis’s votes come from counties in the 1st and 4th Congressional districts with sitting Congressmen with the surname Davis.

I agree with the headline. I can just hear folks throughout the state saying, “Yeah, I remember when that Davis guy came to town with Harold Ford, Jr. I liked him.” I doubt Gary Davis would see it that way, but Lincoln Davis might feel better about his chances for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2010!

Ah, so it could be the other Rep. Davis! Well, looking at his numbers tonight, he may wish he had Gary’s votes too!
