Why Is Tom Leatherwood Running?
By Kleinheider Posted on August 5, 2008 at 9:21 amNathan Moore doesn’t understand:
So, why is he really running? Perhaps it is part personal, and maybe it is part delusional. What we do know is that he has taken an effective Republican fundraiser out of the game and has helped win a congressional seat or two for the Democrats.
Thanks, Tom.

I could not have said it much better. Thanks Tom for hurting “your” party and helping the Democrats. Maybe there is some conspiracy here, maybe that is why CREW jumped on board. Wow Tom, thanks for nothing.
OK, look: they’re BOTH right-wing as the day is long, so it’s not as if Leatherwood is suddenly going to turn pro-choice or pro-middle-class.
The difference to me is that Leatherwood actually appears to be sincere about his beliefs, and since Blackburn is an opportunistic grandstander who is only out for herself, why NOT Leatherwood. It’s not like the 7th is going Democratic any time soon…
Look, I’ll confess. I am a member of the Memphis Courthouse Conspiracy™ and my comrades and I encouraged Tom to get into the race against Marsha. Marsha stands for all things righteous and good, and we’re not interested in any of that. We needed a distraction for her.
We have known Tom for years, and he has merely acted the part of a right-wing conservative for many years in public office so that one day he will get into the US Congress, switch parties, become the liberal he’s always been deep down inside, and help us usher in an awful era of socialism, endless social spending, and reimported Canadian prescription drugs.
There. I feel better now.
(Seriously, has it ever occurred to anyone that the GOP’s problem nationally is their philosophy of war and indifference, not Tom Leatherwood?)
Why is tom running . because Marsha Blackburn is NOT A CONSERVATIVE !
Mickey your only beef is some trumped up constitutional issues with the UN and foreign aid..that and Blackburn spanking you when you ran against her.
She is endorsed by the NRA, National right to life. Supports traditional views on marriage, life, family and guns. What is not conservative about that?
I’ve asked you time and time again to point to one example where you don’t just rant about the constitution and you fail every time.
If the GOP has a problem, it’s not Marsha Blackburn
manny, it is ALL ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION, you know, what she took an oath to uphold. I don’t think she has read it.
Will she keep her word and debate tom on the memephis am radio?
Wow, Mickey and I agree on something . . . I think I have to walk in front of a train now. Seriously, Marsha is more opportunist than conservative—she wears the stripes and says what needs to be said, but deep down it is more from the Grand Ole Marsha than the Grand Ole Party.
When it comes to fiscal spending, Cong. Blackburn does not appear conservative. The TV ad showing her aiming a handgun while squinting her eyes was odd, looked like a pure photo op. Her radio ad attacking her opponent as a career politician made me wonder at what point will she stop running for re-election, or is she one herself?
