What’s Good For The Goose

Posted on July 29, 2008 at 5:35 pm

West in West Tennessee thinks Tom Leatherwood is being a cranky baby about the attacks currently being leveled at him by the campaign of Marsha Blackburn:

Funny how the Leatherwood campaign works: he has spent all spring and summer making unsubstantiated personal attacks against Blackburn and her family. Yet once Team Blackburn launches a legitimate attack on a policy position of his, the entire Leatherwood camp has become unhinged, issuing mass denials and calling the Blackburn campaign “desperate and fearful of losing.”

Well Mr. West thinks Marsha Blackburn hung the moon, but we in the 7th district know better.

A simple question: how many journalists have covered the nepotism in Marsha Blackburn’s campaign and with her son-in-law versus the number who have covered Tom Leatherwood’s supposed support for “free healthcare for illegal immigrants?”

I know that conservatives think the media is biased toward liberals, but come on. There’s just no there there.

Tom Leatherwood has repeatedly criticized Marsha Blackburn for not voting for SCHIP which can only mean that he supports it. No one in their right mind would criticize someone for not voting for a bill when they themselves would have voted the same exact way! There is no coincidence that Tom’s support of SCHIP has landed him the Commercial Appeal’s endorsement and has led to him receiving campaign contributions from pro immigration attorneys, trial lawyers and unions. Heck, this guy has even garnered support from CREW which does nothing but file law suits against Republicans. Perhaps Tom Leatherwood isn’t a true conservative? Perhaps, that’s why he’s trying to appeal to liberal’s for support in an attempt to try and unseat the most conservative woman of congress.

Perhaps you’re making unsubstantiated claims based on no facts whatsoever? Perhaps you’re somehow related to Marsha and on her family payroll as well? Perhaps you’re not paying attention to how Marsha Blackburn makes up quotes on mailers she sends to her constituents? Perhaps?

Said it before and I’ll say it again…dang I’m starting to sound like Mickey…
He’s just been pandering the whole time. He thought supporting money to go to the Med would help him in Nashville so he said it and now the whole aliens thing is biting him on the a$$ so he’s trying to run from it.

Everything about this guy reeks of slick smarmy back room politicians. I don’t even care about the aliens but his signs are shady. His endorsements are questionable at best and he’s got some pretty liberal organizations interested in him taking office. That’s enough for me to stick with Blackburn

Leatherwood needs to grow up. If he is attacking his opponent for voting against a piece of legislation he would have voted for, he better be ready to defend everything in the legislation. DC is just like the state senate, Tom. They put lots of stuff in the bill, and some of it you just can’t live with.

The Blackburn attack is fair. Pretty ugly, but fair.
