Barack Hawk Down

Posted on July 28, 2008 at 11:44 am

A Black Hawk Down veteran on Barack Obama’s failure to visit wounded soldiers while in Germany:

“Over the last week, Barack Obama made time in his busy schedule to hold a rally with 200,000 Germans in Berlin, hold a press conference with French President Nicholas Sarkozy in Paris, and hold a solo press conference in front of 10 Downing Street in London. The Obama campaign had also scheduled a visit with wounded U.S. troops at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, but this stop was canceled after it became clear that campaign staff, and the traveling press corps, would not be allowed to accompany Senator Obama.”
“I’ve spent time at Ramstein recovering from wounds received in the service of my country, and I’m sure that Senator Obama could have made no better use of his time than to meet with our men and women in uniform there. That Barack Obama believes otherwise casts serious doubt on his judgment and calls into question his priorities.”

Ummm, Obama didn’t want to appear as though he were visiting the troops for a mere photo op. Maybe he’ll go back when the camera’s are turned off.

This is just one of many stories like this one. Obama went to strengthen his case and has done just the opposite. We need to make sure people hear this stories and the ones like them so they know exactly who this guy is. The nicest guy in the world when there are cameras and a pompous senator with a big head when there are no cameras.

There are many stories of Obama traveling overseas with campaign staff and being told by the Pentagon that he shouldn’t visit a veterans hospital?

    Please post links.

Yes, this is a pile of bunk–similar articles even ended up being fakes. Obama visited quietly, and without press coverage, with troops in Iraq. He was “damned if he did, damned if he didn’t” visit troops in German. They would have called it a photo-op if he had visited toops, and are now criticizing that he didn’t. The last gasps of a fumbling McCain campaign—appear to me like the painful steps taken to remove a dying elderly relative from life-support.
