All Due Respect But…

Posted on July 25, 2008 at 8:42 am

Kenneth Eaton shares a rambling screed on his campaign blog referring to opponent and Vietnam Vet Bob Tuke as a “desk jockey”:

I commend Bob Tuke and his service to our country. All veterans deserve this respect. However, I must question his purpose of constantly flaunting his military service. Most veterans I speak to do not talk about their time in the service; With the exception of reunions between brothers-in-arms. Mr. Tuke, you have called yourself a ground pounder. The Marines definition of a ground pounder is a “Desk Jockey”. I understand pride in service; but should you really be claiming to have stormed the hill? While Mr. Tuke deserves commendation for his service; one must question whether this is just pride in service, or utilizing this service for political means. I will do more for our Veterans than Mr. Tuke because I know what it is like to sit back and watch a great hero die. I cannot allow another family to experience that same pain without the government doing EVERYTHING they can to help our sick troops.

Bob Tuke was a “Desk Jockey” as a Marine. When he returned home he became a “Desk Jockey” as an attorney, who just happens to already represent the major corporations who are costing Tennesseans jobs. Bob Tuke can’t and won’t become Senator because if he does, he will continue his career as a “Desk Jockey” and a representative of Giant Corporations.
