Rep. Jim Cooper For Governor?

Posted on July 21, 2008 at 7:40 am

Clint Brewer throws out the possibility:

Cooper may be the only Democrat who could really give former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist a run for his money, literally, in 2010’s gubernatorial contest.

Cooper has as deep a reach into Nashville pockets as Frist. Cooper too can self-fund. He has ties into rural Tennessee from his old 4th District days, and he is a Bredesen Democrat — meaning socially moderate and fiscally conservative.

Better Cooper than Harold Ford or Lincoln Davis.

Yeah, but only in tenths of a percent…..

You know, I don’t expect someone like a Steve Cohen to be elected Governor, because the state is simply too backwards, but, geez, even Naifeh is far to the left of these guys. Hell, I wish Naifeh WOULD run, I’d support him, since Purcell abandoned us for the sultry ways of Cambridge.

Clint could have added, “and both are entirely owned subsidiaries of the healthcare lobby.”
