Michelle Obama Is Fair Game
Posted on July 18, 2008 at 4:25 pmNathan Moore unburdens his soul:
This is one of my favorite liberal paradoxes. You want to be strong woman, you want to be treated equally, you are, by choice, a feminist. And then, when things get mildly uncomfortable and it is politically expedient, you are the meek female in need of manly defense. Besides, what is Barack Obama defending his wife from, really? A cartoon by a sympathetic communist New York rag?
Let’s get this straight. Michelle Obama is fair game from now until her husband loses in November. In the primary, she made herself an arm of his campaign. She still makes appearances and speeches on his behalf. She has given sermons from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ that are, unapologetically, Marxist in nature. And she wants to be the first spouse of a country she doesn’t terribly like.
Yeah, she’s fair game. And no, Barack, you don’t look chivalrous defending her from a cartoon.
Bill Hobbs shares some thoughts on the subject as well:
If Barack Obama doesn’t want his wife to be criticized, he should either take her off the campaign trail or get her to stop making stupid comments calling America a “downright mean” country, whining that $600 is only enough to buy earrings, and admitting she has trouble finding reasons to be proud of America. It’s not the critics fault that Mrs. Obama’s comments - and his put-down of rural Americans who own guns and go to church - do damage his campaign and paint the Obamas as out-of-touch elitists.

These are the same people who go batshit when you mention Cindy McCain’s little pill problem?
There’s nothing wrong with going after Michelle Obama. But Goldni is right: Cindy McCain’s whining about “needing” a small airplane to get around Arizona, and her pilfering of her own charity to support a drug habit are certainly fair game too. I’d rather have a committed and intelligent First Lady like Michelle Obama than an ice queen beer heiress.
Why doesn’t Hobbs take a few jabs at the walking pharmaceutical bin that John McCain calls a wife? Hey, B-Ho, give us a video about how all of your “regular Tennessee” douchebags are so proud of their nominee - a cracked dude that dumped his first wife for a pill-popping heiress that bought him a U.S. Senate seat.
Cindy McCain hasn’t been going around slandering America, so of course slandering her is what the toadies to the DNC are doing here. But what else can you expect from those who belong to the Party of Perjury?
