Will Barack Help Cohen?

Katherine Rizzo talks about a possible endorsement by Barack Obama in the Ninth District Congressional race:

One of the unknowns is whether Sen. Barack Obama will stay on the sidelines or get involved. The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate has been selective about intervening in Democratic primary fights, though he did endorse Rep. John Barrow – a white incumbent – over state Sen. Regina Thomas in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District. The race card was face-up on the table in that contest, with Ms. Thomas arguing that a 45% African-American district needed a better fit for its representative in Washington. Georgia voters went to the polls earlier this week, and they chose Mr. Barrow, giving him 76% of the vote.

That contest may not be much of a predictor of what either Sen. Obama or Memphis voters might do, though. The money gap between the Georgia race’s challenger and incumbent was exponentially wider than the one between Mr. Cohen and Ms. Tinker.

And if Sen. Obama has an opinion on the Tennessee 9th, so far he’s keeping it to himself.
