Tullahoma Terrorist Fistjab: Davis Chief Of Staff “Assumes” Obama Not Terrorist Connected, Can’t Be Sure

Posted on June 13, 2008 at 9:49 am

Both Bill Hobbs and Sean Braisted note an interesting few graphs in an article about Congressman Lincoln Davis’s refusal to endorse Barack Obama, despite being a Edwards supporter earlier in the cycle:

Fred Hobbs, a state Democratic Party Executive Committee member representing part of Davis’ district, said he understands why Davis is not endorsing Obama and is “skeptical” of the Illinois senator himself.

“Maybe [it’s] the same reason I don’t want to — I don’t exactly approve of a lot of the things he stands for and I’m not sure we know enough about him,” Hobbs said when asked why he thought Davis wasn’t endorsing Obama. “He’s got some bad connections, and he may be terrorist connected for all I can tell. It sounds kind of like he may be.”

Davis was not made available for comment.

His chief of staff, Beecher Frasier, said he doesn’t know for sure if Obama is “terrorist connected” but he assumes he’s not.

The Tennessee Democratic Party releases a statement in rebuke of their state Executive committee member:

“The Tennessee Democratic Party is united behind our party’s nominee, Senator Barack Obama. Mr. [Fred] Hobbs is obviously misinformed, and his statement highlights the perpetual efforts of the Republican Party, especially here in Tennessee, to turn internet smears and highly offensive gossip into their party’s message against Senator Barack Obama as we head into the General Election. Instead of debating the issues, the Tennessee Republican Party continues to rely upon slanderous and salacious tall tales. They are borrowing from the playbook first written by Richard Nixon and employed in the race against Congressman Harold Ford Jr. Tennesseans of every political persuasion are tired of these tactics.”

The TDP is far too kind. If a Republican official had said this about John McCain they would never be seen in public again. Fred Hobbs knew exactly what he was saying and should be banished from the party immediately.

That’s about the funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile! If it had been Bill Hobbs instead of Fred Hobbs who insinuated BHO had terrorist ties there would be a national media firestorma and calls for his resignation. Will the TDP call for Fred Hobbs resignation???? Somehow I doubt it.

I’m forwarding this to Drudge — this story needs to go national!

[…] The comments of Beecher Fraiser, Chief of Staff to Congressman Lincoln Davis, in the Nashville City Paper where he was reluctant to completely dismiss the possibility that Barack Obama has terrorist connections has raised the ire of the netroots. A blogger at Daily Kos suggests that Fraiser’s stance is a deliberate political ploy designed to throw a progressive candidate to the wolves to enhance his bosses conservative street cred: One thing to know about Beecher Frasier. In 2005, he conducted a smear campaign against the Democracy for America organization in Tennessee, saying that they and Howard Dean were a threat to the Democratic Party. Frasier tried, unsuccessfully, to accuse DFA members from going on local radio shows in East Tennessee to talk down his boss, Congressman Davis. When Frasier brought his accusations to the state party Chairman, Bob Tuke (now running for U.S. Senate), Tuke investigated Frasier’s claims and found them to be complete lies. It should be noted, too, that Beecher Frasier was a key figure in Harold Ford Jr.’s campaign for Senate in 2006. Insiders say that Frasier repeatedly advised Ford to run to the right and throw the liberal wing of the Party under the bus. You’ll remember that Ford lost very narrowly - possibly because of this strategy - making Tennessee the only Democratic Senate seat that the Party lost in ‘06. […]

William Ayers was indeed a domestic terrorist, as was anyone in the Weather Underground. Obama cryptically says that he is “friendly” with Ayers, but will not clarify. So certainly the phrase “terrorist connected” as a possibility to worry about is justified. What seems to be the problem, other than that many Dems apparently wouldn’t care the least if Obama has/had terrorist ties. They would be outraged if such ties were used against Obama in his campaign to become Commander in Chief, though.

Mike, that’s BS and you know it. Face it, we have a better candidate, one who will restore our credibility on the world’s stage the moment he is sworn in and can begin to reverse the damage that Bush has done.

All you have left to peddle is fear of swarthy brown people, and 72% of America just isn’t buying that garbage any more.

LWC, the friendship with Ayers is a fact, like it or not. Just so you know, Ayers is the guy who was quoted in the NYT (on Sept. 11, of all days) saying “I don’t regret setting bombs” and “I feel we didn’t do enough.” Ask Mr. Google if you have any doubts.

And your ’superior’ candidate seems to be continually surprised by the beliefs and actions of those surrounding him (Ayers, Dohrn, Johnson, Wright, Rezko, Goolsbee, Power for starters). I’m also unsure how repudiating NAFTA and cutting trade ties with Colombia is going to help us restore our credibility to the world, but whatever.

As a European reading this blog. I can add one thing -a view that most of the world has today looking at the US.
You put another Republican in the Oval office after Bush- you will have to refer to the US dollar as the US Peso.
I think almost everybody will dump the Dollar as a trustworthy currency. With all the consequences that
will have for the US. The Oil will leave the dollar
    and turn to the Euro.
The world has been following the US for 50 years at least but an other republican in The White House,Ï believe the world would say - Enough is enough.
We all can do a mistake OK, but not two in a roe.
You can’t push the world to a brink like Bush has.
We are also free country’s with free people. And it doesn’t matter, to todays citizens, how much you meant for our freedom during the Second Wold War.
The new generation see that war as ‘history’ and don’t have time or don’t want to remember it.
It’s 60 years ago and some American people seems to forgotten that.
    We can’t be thankful forever.
We have shown our loyalty to the US for more than 50 years. Now you can’t ask more.
We also lives on this planet and want our say.
And the more we see the way the Republicans only looking for garbage to dig up, the more we dislike them since they don’t want to discuss the problems,
that gas- and food prices are causing.
McCain was in he close group of people that was considerings Kenneth Lay of Enron as a US Tresary Secretary.
That was of cause before the fall of Enron
So don’t talk about judgment when it comes to Obama.
And not talking about the Halliburton contacts in Iraq and Kuwait, etc, etc.
    Has McCain protested ?
100′millions of taxpayers money just vanished.

Obama good or average, whatever, but he’s the only chance you have to restore the US reputation abroad.
If he then get Hillery as Secretary of State and she
and Bill start going around the world, you will be back on your feet soon.

Obama has no chance? That’s hilarious. John McCain has no chance: he can’t keep any of his “facts” straight, has no economic plan, is married to a multimillionaire and is so out of touch he doesn’t know how to use a computer. He’s an elitist who has used his elitist ties his entire life . . . from getting into the naval academy, to getting into the senate, to marrying a wealthy beer baroness . . . he’s so out of touch, it’s no wonder they attack Obama so viciously — it’s because they’ve got nothing positive to say for themselves.

Thankfully, America sees right through all this garbage from the RNC and John McCain — and Obama will pull it through in the end.

Better healthcare, better economy, better foreign relations, better America: Go OBAMA!!

I absolutely will not be voting for Senator Obama for other reasons, and even though Nobama’s fans didn’t speak out against mysogyny and sexism, and as a matter of fact perpetuate and reinforce it, I must say: give it a rest already with the “fist jabs”, and “terrorist connections”, “he’s a muslim” (as if that isn’t okay in this Freedom of Religion country of ours. If you don’t like his policies, speak to those issues. Otherwise these ignorant, fear-mongerer innuendos strike me as an ongoing “whisper campaign” (psst…he cheats on his wife, she’s a lesbian, whisper, whisper, whisper…, some also sound like “code” for “I don’t trust him because he’s Black”.

I appreciate the sincerity of all these comments, but across the blog’s I see a pattern of old versus young emerging. The young, who favor BO, can’t appreciate the views of older voters who keep saying,”experience counts for something, dammit”. For you younger BO supporters, you are going to have to make your case to the older voters, because they out number you now, and if you don’t make your case for BO, they are going to crush you in the general election. It’s going to be hard for BO to sway older,(and I’m afraid, wiser), voters.

Machiavelli asks if it is better to be loved than to be feared. The Democrats answer is it’s better to be loved. That attitude will mean lots of American bloodshed in the future. For the past 8 years, the U.S. has been feared by terrorists around the globe, and clucked at by the linguini-spined Europeans. That fear of a U.S. JDAM has kept us from being attacked. That is a good thing. Obama proposes to make us soft and susceptible to attack because he wants us to be loved by the same terrorists who would love to kill us. One such terrorist is Obama’s friend William Ayres. As long as Obama will not fully discuss his relationship with Ayres and the Arabs from West Bank and Gaza, the one with Hamas, PLO, Islamic Jihad, Hizbollah, Iran and other terrorist connections, then Fred Hobbs and Beecher Frasier are quite right. It is better to be cautious about a blank slate than to rush and fill it with one’s thoughts, hopes, and dreams and then make spurious claims about what it can achieve. When Obama talks honestly (he never talks honestly about his ideas, friends, wife’s comments or anything!) about his terrorist pals, then the doubts of many will be alleviated. It’s that easy.

Obama is an unknown quantity in so many ways. Heaven help us all, that’s all I can say. Our intelligence agents are probably on tranquilizers by now, with enough for an overdose. But I do want to commend Frasier and Fred Hobbs for their honesty. Refreshing!

Some of you are so ignorant it is laughable. Obama has no “ties” to William Ayers. They live in the same neighborhood and once served on a charity board together–that is it. The mayor of Chicago is actually good friends with Ayers, who was never convicted of any crime and who is a professor at the University of Chicago. Does the mayor of Chicago have “terrorist ties”?

Obama is also not an “unknown quantity” or “inexperienced.” Every single aspect of his personal and professional life is known. You can’t say that about either McCain or Clinton. He was an Illinois senator for eight years, and has been a U. S. Senator for four. That’s 12 years in public office. Before that he was a civil rights lawyer and community organizer. And president of the Harvard Law review. And taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago. He has about 20 years of relevant experience. I’m 60 years old and white, and I agree with the kids: experience may be important, but judgment is more important. Obama has both.

    To Mr Simon and others.

You can’t view the world from Tennessee
You have to get a better view. Travel around
    a bit, it helps.
The US is not the freedom-fighter it used to be.
Your trust is down in bottom. 3% of the
world population looks at the US favorably today.
    It scary !!
I love the US and I think the damage Bush done
to your country should carry death penalty.
Bush is behaving on the world stage like Mike Tyson,
    one thing dumber than another.
And don’t you think Iran understand that ?
That’s why he’s challenge the US, he knows
there will be a world war if you attacked them.
The whole Arab world would back them.
McCain refuses to talk to Iran. Bush says the same thing thing. So my question is:
-Why is North Korea taking down there nuclear plats ?
–And why is the US GIVING them 100’s of millions of
    dollars worth of oil ?
If you don’t know the answer I will tell you.
-Thought talking to each other-reaching agreement.
And that is what Obama says about Iran.
–Talk to them rather then threaten them.
The cowboy politic doesn’t lead anywhere, as you noticed.
After 9/11 98% of the world was behind you and today it’s down to 3%.So what do you think happen ?
And you want the same politic to go on ?
Hope you are not that stupid.
McCain would carry that bag if he gets in.
    And the historians will say:
    -He never got a chance!
Republican Party is pumping money in to smear
sites on the internet, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity,
Rush Limbarh, and the other paid clowns do every-
thing to bring down your country.
They don’t care about America the only care
about there own next on paycheck.
    McCain should have a slogan:
    -Empower the rich !
    Don’t fall for it !

    Hi Mr Simon
You said : And pray why would we want to elect a fool just to please some Euros? And yes the dollar is tanking. And sucking jobs out of Europe with it. We are gaining at your expense.

I think you got the numbers a bit wrong. EU ( the EURO Zone) is doing very well. Sweden for example had hardly any unemployment and a surpus of more than 100 billion this year. Note that EU have totally free health-system. Everyone has free health care incl. operations and X-ray and what’s needed to get you back on your feet.
And still are doing very well.
If you where to ask the American people this question:
Would you be ready to pay 10% more tax in exchange for totally free healtcare ?
Would be interesting to see that result.

I, my self went in for heart-operations and stayed in hospital for 7 weeks had two operations and all medicines after that, free for life. Cost ? Not one cent ! I said THANK YOU when I left.
That is not bad for a country’s you say is so doing bad.
You see, you can not only take credit when you do good things you also have to take the blame when you do wrong things. And during the Republican regime it
    has been to many mistakes.
Bush missile defense system he wants to put up around Russia.
What would you say if Venezuela start doing that in Mexico ?
You would scream you head off.
And don’t now tell me it’s a difference, because it’s not.
US is pushing to many things in to conflict.
    Conflict nobody wants.
And that is what Obama says.
Start TALKING to people and stop threaten them.
You can’t behave like Mike Tyson on the World stage.
France where ready to go with in to Afghanistan but not in to Iraq. And you screamed !
And now, how was the smart one to stay out of that civil war. That they said then it would be, and didn’t want to join of that reason.
You lost more than 4000 Young Americans there and have gain what ?
No attacks on the US you say,I know.
Well if you just have stayed in Afghanistan I don’t
think you would have any more attacks either.
And now they are attacking you ( and us) with the gasoline price instead.
5-6 years in to the war and the strongest nation in the world hasn’t beaten this gang of ragbags yet.
So what is so good about Bush and his policy makers ?
