Clinton Nabs Another Tennessee Super

Posted on May 14, 2008 at 10:20 am

“Automatic” delegate to the Democratic National Convention, Vicki Harwell, President of the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women, has thrown her lot in with Hillary Clinton:

“Hillary’s decisive victory in West Virginia is the latest evidence that she is the strongest candidate to take on John McCain and win back the White House,” Harwell said. “Hillary has the plans, leadership and experience to deliver real results as President.”

Harwell was an “add-on” delegate selected at a March 8th meeting of the Democratic State Executive Committee.

At the time of her selection, Harwell indicated she was “leaning towards” backing Senator Clinton but was recently quoted in the Tennessean confirming her uncommitted status while betraying a slight openness to Obama.

Harwell had received calls from the Clinton campaign soliciting her support but none from Obama. She expressed a hope that Obama was not making assumptions in his neglecting o reach out:

“I get really irritated with the media when they paint this as a choice between race and gender,” she said. “If he’s discouraged because of that, it’s a shame. A lot of our women are supporting Obama.”

Out of seventeen Democratic superdelegates from Tennessee four now support Obama, six are pledged to Clinton and the rest remain uncommitted.

Whatever, she’ll have to support Obama in the fall as he will be the nominee.

ditto uddmiller, yet, it is unfortunate that she would give Hillary any false hopes. It is best to be forthcoming with those that you respect and admire.

It is possible that she actually believes Hillary has a shot. After all, she is running 2 point ahead of Barack Obama in the Gallup tracking poll; which is sufficient justification to hand her the nomination.

Thank you Vicky! I am glad there are people out there who believe Hillary is the strongest of the two running for president. Obama has fatal flaws and is unelectable. Wake up PEOPLE! Why do you think someone with NO experience can run this country? If Nobama gets in…..vote McCain! GO HILLARY!!!!

Actually, if Hillary get the nomination I’ll vote for McCain. Seriously, what is the difference?

    Allen,

Easy on the Caps Lock buddy…as my second comment stated, I was referring to the head-to-heads with John McCain.

Dear Ms. Vicky, what are you drinking! The train has left the station. The old politics is dead and Hillary 9for her “I will fight for!” is toast. I don’t want somewhat who will fight for me but someone with the deoth of character to know what to fight for! You will hopefully change your endorsement when appropriate or you will be left behand. Vote for OBAMA

“Woman things” don’t belong in the process. That’s sexism, pure and simple.

Hooray for Vicky! I am happy to learn that she supports Ms. Clinton. Obama absolutely has fatal flaws, not to mention his inexperience….

    GO TEAM HILLARY!!!!!

Hillary doesn’t have character? It depends on what myths you are reading about or hearing on the news. Her voting record and stand on issues shows something else. Cooperate media probably want Obama to win so McCain will beat him, not that he’s a bad guy, but I believe he and the media have tried to pressure Hillary into throwing in the towel prematurely. While there may be voters who say if Hillary doesn’t win they will vote for McCain(Like a shot in the foot ,do you want 4 more years of Bush policies which McCain supports? I’ve also read on other forums and news sites that if Obama wins they will just write in Hillary’s name on the November ballot. I believe what Hillary does have is determination and the ability to deal with the tough crowd in Washington. I personlly will not vote for McCain, I just think it would be bad for America’s future and since he does not have alot of knowledge about economy , where might that end us up after four years of him in office. This shouldn’t be a race of I hate Obama or I hate Hillary especially among democrat voters, remember why you you got involved is because you want a change for the better for our future. Everyone likes their candidate of choice, but this divisiveness among voters who identify as democrats who say they are going to vote for McCain if Hillary loses is what may defeat our chances in November,I bet that’s the strategy that republicans hope will work to get their candidate elected. Do we need that or want that???
