Can’t We Do Both?

Lamar Alexander has made his speech announcing his new Manhattan Project for energy independence:

Instead of ending a war, the new Manhattan Project’s goal will be clean energy independence – so that we can deal with rising gasoline prices, electricity prices, clean air, climate change and national security – for our country first, and – because other countries have the same urgent needs and therefore will adopt our ideas – for the rest of the world.”

    Lets just unregulate the energy business and remove all taxes on them and let private free enterprise do it.

    Ending energy dependence on the Middle East won’t by itself end the problem of Israeli dependence, but the dynamics will change.

    This is the best thing Lamar has done since he’s been in there.
