Pro-Abort Groups Cry Fowl On Fowler
By Kleinheider Posted on April 29, 2008 at 11:36 amKen Whitehouse has a great story behind the paywall about five organizations in the State chastising former state Senator David Fowler for some of the rhetoric he is using in his push to get SJR 127, a resolution amending the state constitution to give it more latitude in regulation of abortion, up for a full floor vote in the legislature.
The groups assert that Fowler is fraudulently claiming that without SJR 127 a state law banning partial-birth abortion is unenforceable. For more click here.
Dolores Gresham, the legislator leading the charge for the resolution in the House, says that she will try to bring the resolution to the floor on Thursday. 66 votes, a two-thirds majority, is needed to bypass the committee process.
Fowler sent a mass email earlier this morning stating that he has secured pledges from a majority of House members to vote to suspend the rules to bring the resolution to the floor and urges voters to call a select few legislators who he believes to either be wavering in support or on the fence.
