Putting Pen To Paper On Odom’s Designs
By Kleinheider Posted on April 18, 2008 at 2:38 pmAlthough you hear rumblings of such things from time to time, this is the first time I’ve seen anyone write it down. From the Tennessee Journal:
It has long been speculated that if the Democrats maintain control of the House in November, [Rep. Gary] Odom will challenge Naifeh for the speaker’s position. But distribution of the newspaper article, which Odom jokingly described as Frist’s “first mail piece,” likely had nothing directly to do with any such aspirations.
Whether he has designs on the speaker’s job or not, Odom clearly wants to play a lead role in defending his party’s majority. He will be somewhat less free to get out to other districts than he had hoped because he faces a challenge of his own. Republican Timothy Lee, a paramedic paramedic, stands little chance against Odom but will force him to campaign some in his own district.
Naifeh too has an opponent, Covington Republican Rory Bricco, but is expected to win reelection handily.

Minds may change as the Rory Bricco campaign gets going in a big way. Rory Bricco is a proven leader who is succinct, a brilliant communicator, and stands his ground firmly. He is pretty awesome and will make a formidable opponent. Keep your eye on Rory Bricco. Visit his blog at http://www.rorybricco.com. Click on the ‘Blog’ button.
Yes, stand by to watch Naifeh go down. Rory Bricco’s support is gaining momentum throughout the entire state and, in my humble opinion, he will win. I expect he will be receiving plenty of donations from people outside the 81st district, just so they can unseat “The Grim Reaper of the Second Amendment”
It would be wise for anyone who values their right to bear arms to send some support Mr. Bricco’s way.

Yup, I’m sending him a donation. We’ll leave it up to the voters in the 81st to actually make the decision. I think this Rory guy is spot-on when it comes to protecting the constitution. He’s pro-life, pro-gun and anti-tax. He’s very conservative and a strict constitutionalist. Maybe I’ll move to the 81st just to cast my vote for him. Hopefully the esteemed voters of the 81st have had enough of Speaker Naifeh and will make a sensible decision and not just vote for the incumbant (like they always do). I’ve heard that anyone who has met Mr Bricco has an instant like and respect for the man. Apparently, he’s the guy to bring down “The Grim Reaper of the Second Amendment” as Bob put it. We’ll see….
[…] is, of course, rumored to have his eye on Speaker Jimmy Naifeh’s chair. This kind of bold move has to be seen with that in […]
